| Summary: Big disappointment
70
Unlike the other reviews, I was really disappointed with this game. On all the console versions the game is very smooth and, I realize you have to sacrifice some for a handheld, but not something so important.
Graphics and music is very good, but the gameplay is what's important, and that's where it lacks. Completely opposite for the other games, control of your character is extremely hard. Instead of gliding across the pavement in between a rail and a wall (with plenty of space) I found the pace of the game so fast I repeatedly bounced from wall to rail until I crashed. The most frustrating part is when you stand up and he immediately runs into the pole in front of you and falls over again.
The controls are increasingly hard considering the fact that you don't have an analog stick. After slapping myself for spending 50 bucks on this game I attempted a halfpipe. I went up...and instead of having at least a little hangtime, half a second later I come crashing to the ground. I know other owners will say my stats weren't high enough but this happens with every character! You don't even have time to spin much less do a trick. All in all, if you're used to the other THPS games you're in for a big surprise. My game will be on ebay before the week is out.
Overall
Graphics 4 out of 5
Music 4 out of 5
Gameplay 2 out of 5 (You can get off your board and run around)
I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone but die-hard fans.

First of all, you're crazy. This is a freakin handheld and you're complaining about one of the best looking games on the system? HA
Second, when you first start out, your stats are all the way down, NO WONDER YOU'RE NOT GETTING MUCH AIR! keep playing maybe?!?!? build up your speed, jump height, ...DUH
Third, the game controls JUST FINE and I can pull off any move from the console, on the PSP so your skill is the only thing lacking in this game

oh and 4, you're missing out if you sell this game! keep playing it's just like the console

Yeah i just recently unlocked all the levels and i love this game. I personally skate which helps but i find myself always playing this game. I played the original on ps1 then TH2 and then TH2x on xbox and then quit for a while. All these added features where u can walk around the level to get in just the right spot and the focus mode for slo-mo to bust out some sick tricks is what really makes me like it. I think after a little bit of adjusting the whole game fits perfectly in my hands. The controls were the same as they were in all the TH games. or so i believe. I dont think there is a better TH control scheme. Sry you were bummed on the game but i love it!

i disagree PSPerson but it's your opinion. The only thing that confuses me is that u said you can't stay in the air long enough to do tricks. "You don't even have time to spin much less do a trick" Are you serious. I do 540's and 720's all the time and still have hangtime. I don't mean to critisize your view on the game, but this review is way off.

Game looks great, amazing really, sounds good too. However i find it hard to play though, the system versions felt so right, everything was pretty smooth. This is a portable so i just have to get used to it, i played it yesterday and had more fun that not so it's looking up lol. If you like TH games this is a great buy, if not buy with caution^^

I enjoyed this game up until I finished the training round Then it just became overwhelming. I felt like there was a humongous learning gap between training and "the real world". And I'll mirror some of the reviewer's comments, the game was a little unwieldy at times. I had no problem getting a lot of air, but sometimes the game would just have you fall down and then the instant you got up you'd slam into something else, forcing you to watch that stupid getting up animation again. Eventually I just put it down. Too bad, it had promise, but us newbs to the series should've had an extra training round or something.

I love TH games but can we get a new name? This sounds like a joke.
"hey man you wanna go play Tony Hawks Underground 2 remix to the third power souped up twice edition"

You don't control it with the analog stick?
+
in my opinion..i really dont think you can compare handhelds to their console versions. you can compare tony hawks GBA to PSP...haha
+
The analog stick controls the camera in this version....I know, it's stupid. I concur with PSPerson on this one, the controls aren't great especially if you're used to how the console versions handle.
+
I never used the analogue stick for Tony Hawk games anyway =/
