Doesn't quite work as promised but it seems to help smudges. I have had some UMD's that got smudges on them from fingerprints, etc. and this definitely fixed them. However it doesn't really seem to do much for even light scratches. Considering there really are not many choices out there (a non-liquid cleaner that is pretty much useless - came with my Pelican accessories kit - is the only other one I have been able to find), this seems to be nice to have.
Would really like to see the people that make Scratch Doctor for CD's and DVD's to make a UMD version of their product. That would be extremely useful! But for now this is good to have for light duty cleaning of UMD and it's pretty inexpensive (I think I paid about $9.00 total with S&H after doing alot of searching on the web).

This looks like the same item as what came with my Pelican kit

you really do have to wonder why umds don't have a metal sleeve like minidiscs..

JonnoB: It's similar to the Pelican one but that is a dry cleaner (and pretty much useless).
Dreamer: I would have to agree. Very annoying!

I can't believe you already have scratches on your UMDs. You must live a very "active" lifestyle or work in a very unstable needle factory. The best thing to do would be to not scratch your UMDs. Put them in their cases and don't worry about finding some weird gadget to grind off their surface.edited: Jun 25 2005

So glad you live in a perfect world. For the rest of us... the open format of umd's get scratched eventually. It's hard to avoid. Of course the best thing to do is try to be as careful as possible, but the reality is that it happens. Just like PSP's get light scratches over time. UMD's get taken in and out of that PSP and it's just going to happen. At the VERY least, fingerprints happen. Screen protectors, plastic cleaner/repairers (like Plexus), and disc cleaners like this help a bit. Definitely not the greatest of solutions, but better than nothing.
