First, realize this game is a tactical strategy game with a card interface. Working at Gamestop, I see 90% of people returning this game not realizing that. It is an excellent tactical strategy game, though it is radically different from past Metal Gears.
Technically the game looks great, looking very nice compared to the most recent Metal Gears. Load times are barely noticeable, not detracting from gameplay in the least (even when using special cards that load movies from the past Metal Gears).
In terms of gameplay, the game is very solidly built, allowing you to move with any of your cards, making you not rely solely on 'Movement Cards'. Other cards function in a variety of ways, such as pulling out a SOCOM and firing to throwing a grenade that explodes X time later.
The game is still very stealth based, as past Metal Gears have been, but you can fight your way through some levels very easily too. Use of automatic weapons isn't nearly as penalized as it was in MGS 1/2, attracting far less attention (Never had an issue with drawing more than one guard to me when using the FAMAS automatic). Also, it's a relatively small task to kill all the guards in an area, new guards are typically only introduced when a guard sees you and calls for backup (Which only brings in one new guard).
Overall a solid tactical strategy, just know what your buying before you do.
