Summary: I got the Ambition case last week and can say that

I got the Ambition case last week and can say that it is by far a better case than Logitech's Playgear Pocket crap (which I tried before this - waste of money). I have also tried the AirForm Pocket and Aero Case whice are also nice and inexpensive but bulky.

The Ambition case is very solid and well made - the PSP feels very protected and is far slimmer than Logotech even though there's room for two UMDs in the lid.

Also don't worry about the UMDs being on top of the screen - the UMDs are placed solid in the two inserts and don't touch the screen at all - and it isn't likely that they will touch the screen even with pressure on top. The case lid seems very solid and well shaped to withstand pressure.

Another great feature which makes the Ambition far better that Playgear pocket is that the PSP is held firmly in place by two foam rubber pads on the sides of the case - so the PSP doesen't fall out when the case is opened (unlike the Playgear case). And while the PSP is held down firmly in the case, it's still pretty easy to remove when swapping UMDs.

Pros

• Slim design (far slimmer than Playgear Pocket) doesn't make the PSP bulky like many other cases
• PSP held into place - doesn't fall out by accident
• PSP easily playable in case (I actually prefer this since the case makes the PSP a bit more comfortable to hold)
• Power and headset ports not covered by the case
• The two USD "slots" are a great idea and feels safe and secure for the screen
• Quick to open and secure when closed - no zipper-close
• Nice overall look and feel - feels expensive and hand made - NICE!
• Two small slots for memorystick duo cards under the PSP

Cons

• USB slot covered when closed (no real problem)
• PSP must be removed from case to change UMD (again no big problem since the PSP is easily removed and replaced)
• Maybe not enough room in the opening for a handstrap - haven't tried this though
• Expensive - this is no cheap plastic crap!

Overall

If you a looking for a slim case which doesn't make the PSP bulky, and have room for a few UMD's - the Ambition case is the way to go! But if you are looking for a closed case whick holds more UMDs, headset, cleaning-cloth, etc., and don't care for the extra bulkyness, go for a bigger case/bag like the Aero Case which is cheap and pretty nice also

It looks tacky and cheap to me, kind of like some futuristic toy or something. I still prefer the playgear because it allows me to play my mo3s with the case closed (I can change songs without opening case because the remote is lame, etc.). I like my case to have style and an expensive look...

I actually think this looks nicer and more sleek than the playgear pocket, which I have. The playgear does seem a bit bulky and doesnt have any room for umds and memory stick. I may just look into this.

I do not want room for UMDs or Memory sticks in my case. What I want in my case is a. . .case. This thing has all the aesthetic appeal of Samsonite luggage, without the monkey. I have a Goldies case and an altoids tin. Huzzah.

Couple questions:

In the picture of the bottom where the mem sticks are stored it looks like 4 slots. What are the extra two indents?

How does the latch work? Is it a button?

Can it be used as a stand for movie viewing like the playgear pocket?

Thanks.

The big question is PROTECTION. Seems to me this case doesn't provide as much as the Playgear.

"Since you hated your playgear pocket crap..why not send it to me.. I will give it a loving home.. Poor litle pocket crap."

I sold it allready... sorry, mate

"In the picture of the bottom where the mem sticks are stored it looks like 4 slots. What are the extra two indents?"

There are only two indents in the botton of the case, but two holes for each in the leather to make it easier to take the sticks out.

"How does the latch work? Is it a button?"

Yes - its a button which holds the case closed securely but is fast and easy to open.

"Can it be used as a stand for movie viewing like the playgear pocket?"

No - the lid doesn't swing around the top enough for this.

"The big question is PROTECTION. Seems to me this case doesn't provide as much as the Playgear."

Actually, I find it more secure since the PSP doesn't come loose or fall out by accident when you have the case open - a bit flaw on the Playgear case!
But if you throw the PSP against the wall, the Playgear case may offer better protection. However, for normal use (the occational drop) this case feels more than sufficient
