A little while ago, I was on the prowl for some good-sounding and easy to store headphones for my PSP. I originally found myself with Intec's earphones, since they came in an accessory multi-pack I bought. But as you can see from my review of them, they just aren't up to snuff for the quality I was looking for. And so my search has ended with the Javo eBuds.
I honestly didn't expect much from this product. I mean, they're in-ear headphones, you've heard one, you've heard them all, right? Wrong. These little guys blew me away with the quality of sound they produce. I have had quite a bit of experience with all lines of Shure's earphones, as well as several other professional brands, and these ear buds really give them some competition! I am not joking. One of my part time jobs entails sound engineering for my church. I took these along to our band's practice night, and plugged them into my sound board in place of some Phillips stereo headphones. I even tested them up against some Shure E2cs that I had lying around, and got the same results. In fact, for most of the practice I used the Javo eBuds in place of Shure's! The only difference in sound quality between the two was the obvious reduction in displacing outside noise interference while wearing Javo's eBuds. (The Javo ear buds do not, of course, have foam protection around the speaker like the Shure E2cs.)
The highs and mids were clear, as expected from earphones. However, what really shocked me was the pounding low-end delivery. I could actually hold my fingers an inch or two away from the speaker and feel the vibrations from the bass! This has always been a pet peeve of mine regarding audio products, and these ear phones do not disappoint. There is absolutely no distortion whatsoever with the volumn on the PSP turned all the way up.
In comparison to Intec's retractable eBuds, the cord length of the Javo's is almost a foot longer, which is quite nice. (I believe Intec's are about 26" while Javo's are about 34" Did I mention that these ear buds are incredible comfortable? After a short while you almost forget you are wearing them. (Which could be a good or a bad thing, I suppose!) They are white, which some PSP fanboys may not like. Despite that, they still look pretty cool.
The one downside I found with the Javo eBuds is the fragileness of the retractable spring. When I received my pair, I immediately pulled both sides as far as they could go to check the length. When I did this, the cord came undone from the spring mechanism, and now they won't retract. When I informed JavoEdge of the problem, they immediately sent me a new pair overnight. This, of course, will not be a problem now, since I know to be more careful, but the Intec ear buds can take a bit more of a thrashing. I can extend them completely quite vigorously with no issue.
Despite a slightly bloated price of $18.95 (i'm thinking more around $15), the sound quality is almost as good as most professional grade ear buds! I originally bought these because of the retractable cord, but what has sold me is the actual quality of sound! If you don't mind taking care not to over-extend the spring mechanism, these buds will satisfy your ears for a long time.

Actually, the 'L' style fits perfectly with the PSP. It slides right under the thumb pad so it doesn't effect your gameplay. The straight connectors tend to get in the way.

Looks ok.. and I guess the wire doesn't have too much lag but I mean the psp came with the same thing in the value pack and everyone has it unless your japanese

Hehe, the one that comes in the value pack is garbage. Uncomfortable, AND bad quality. YAY!

Oh! I just noticed these are available in black too!

I got the black one in the mail today. The bass is definitely a lot better than the white ones. It looks like they changed the speaker used in the black one.
Not to mention that it matches my beautiful PSP much better.edited: Jun 15 2005

True, but i want to be able to use them with my iPod, and L shaped plugs look silly on an iPod
