Summary: Still Fun After All These Years

If you remember 1998 well, you probably remember Ape Escape, in which you captured monkeys with helmets. Well, about 7 years later, that game is back, but in the form of "Ape Escape: On the Loose". Guess what? It's still fun after all these years.

If you remember the original "Ape Escape" on the Playstation, it used both analog sticks. You use the Left Analog stick to control the character and the Right Analog Stick to use the item. Because the PSP has one Analog Stick, you use that stick to control the character and the Triangle, Circle, and Square buttons are used to use items.

Except the new mini-games (which are hilarious) and the enemy book (which tells you about the enemies you faced), all of this is just a port of the original "Ape Escape" from the Playstation. Even though there are some control (the Analog Stick isn't the best) and camera problems (the camera sometimes doesn't help your situation), "Ape Escape: On The Loose" is still a great game. Period.

I'm quite a bit older than 5 and this game looks incredibly fun to me. There's such an influx of serious games, this looks like a breather, might have to try it.

yah i have it i highly recomend it, it is a very long game so dont count on beating it in a week. Ive had this from launch and ive completed like 70% of it but i dont play it everyday.

i think its a great game because a 5 year old and a 45 yer old could enjoy this game equally. i've played both the PSP and old PS one and i was addicted. it seems simple and like a kiddy game but its actually a very clever game that really pulls off what it tries for. seriously, dont judge this book by the cover, you may be missing out. in my opinion this an excellent game for the PSP and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simplistic, yet absolutely great game to rent.

level 2 lol? which one was that? i know it can be frustrating but the solution is there, i got angry and bored of a couple of the later levels myself but it doesnt take away from the game too much.

The good thing is the replay value; on each level there are apes you can't catch till you get new items later in the game... for the true boss battle you need all apes.
