Rumours abound. It's not entirely clear what city this game will be based on. Some report Vice while others think it will be Liberty City. The only thing that is known for certain is that it is being worked on.
EBX said it's coming out on 10/1/05, close enough to the 4th, so i think it's set for an October release. If it's delayed then so be it.. but as of now October is when it's coming out.
Do you know how to read? "Based on" does not mean "takes place in". The game could easily be "Based on" the Vice CODE and take place in Liberty City. This seems very likely as the original GTA3 had no motorcycles whereas Vice did...
It definately takes place in Liberty City, look at the screen shot with the cops in it, the swat truck says LCPD (translation) Liberty City Police Department, I still wont believe the release date untill I have the game!!!!!
Yea if anyone is bitching about the graphics, just go rent or pick up GTA 3 for the PC, since the PC versions have been superior to the console versions then you can tell that GTA 3 on the PC, or on the console doesn't look that great at all, the PSP will be better or just about the same. If you are used to the outdated graphics then hey it doesn't look half bad, but gotta remember this is a handheld and its going to look better than the console version.
There is an article with pictures and lots of information in the latest issue of Official Playstation Magazine. The game takes place in Liberty city before GTA3 and after GTA:SA. It's going to be longer than 3 but shorter than Vice City. That's all that I read.
One problem is the rumors about the battery draining that this game will cause. Think about it playing GTA on a psp will require the cd to spin almost constantly, unless you plan on staying in the same spot. So if you want to get this game you should def upgrade to an external battery, an extra battery or the new batteries coming out with 2wice the power. Lastly this game might not even come out. I was told that the problems its having with the battery issue keep the users plugged in to the wall. That makes GTA:PSP a stationary game, kinda like the Console versions, that you can play on tv all day. I hope the game comes out anyway because I love gta, but this is just new information I have recieved.

It's still gonna be released, but the battery problems are true. Loading times are gonna be quite the bitch.
"To target an enemy, players must now press the "R" button and can cycle through targets using the left and right buttons on the D-Pad
The on screen display (both radar and health meters etc) will be semi-transparent, giving a better view of the action on PSP's small screen.
MP3 playback from the memory stick will be supported!
The clothing changes are said to be more akin to San Andreas than Vice City
The magazine claims that the game is "80% finished"
I get a lot of news on a lot of games all the time. My school sent me to E3 for free and I was able to check up on a lot of new games coming out. I E my GTA information was from the horses mouth.
