Rumours abound. It's not entirely clear what city this game will be based on. Some report Vice while others think it will be Liberty City. The only thing that is known for certain is that it is being worked on.

I got a release date for GTA. It ships out on 7/12 according to an in-store gamestop upcoming release board. But i'm pretty sure they're going to push it back again. For the better and for the worst...
i have high hopes for this game, they can take as long as they need as long as they end up with a truly good game. i'm scared its gonna feel too much like GTA lite. i'm hoping for a city hopefully even the size of liberty or vice but smaller might be alright, cars, MOTORCYCLES, HELICOPTERS, dont really need boats that bad especially if they can fit other stuff without them. music will be good i'm sure but hopefully they dont have too much music too take away precious space from the game itself. i'm sure there will be a plethora of options to play mini games throughout the map, but i hope they fix the missions in GTA alone. i've always felt the missions were somewhat generic and in GTA:SA's case i would have preferred a much smaller map with more advanced gameplay like true crime or even the getaway. i'm most likely getting the game either way but i know a lot of people are waiting for this one.
i think itll be either in liberty city OR a full blown san andreas conversion. i went to hastings to pick up god of war and they had the release date for GTA SA on the Xbox and down by the little xbox symbol it had PSP! Rockstar could do it. the psp has 33.3 mhz proccessing power, right? they coud do it...
no it actually has 333 mhz ...sony psone has 33.3mhz
They should give whoever has it on preorder some extras, like shirts software bundle or something..alot of supporters out there for rockstar probably feel the same.
i think they should make this game a 2 UMD set. with two UMD's, they could fit the game into two parts, and not have to take anything out. it doesn't cost sony that much to make the umds anyways!

No way! 2 umd's is pointless for a game like this. I could see maybe for an RPG or something but come on GTA? Naaaa I don't think it would be a good Idea
i'd rather have a two disc game than lose all the best things about GTA. gta 3 was big, vice city was huge, san andreas is HUMONGOUS! i'd hate to see anything less from GTA PSP.

I once again agree with you, I would much rather have all the data on 2 umd's rather than a watered down version with less content on 1 umd.
