MVP Baseball for the PSP features season mode, head-to-head wireless, and party play where four players can compete in batting and pitching mini games.
I have this game, i got it today. Playing it right now. This is a great game so far, great animation and the comentary is amazing. Will update when ive played some more.
I need to dedicate a good 30 minutes to learning the damn thing before I try and play again. The first time I opend it up I got my a$$ handed to me because I didn't know how to pitch, hit, field, etc. The game is also pretty laggy - you get a 2-second freeze after every replay, for example.
And am I the only one who thinks they could have done a better job with the EYES? Those blank, unblinking, staring EYES. . .creepy.
Talk about a night and day experience compared to HotShots Golf, that I was playing immediately. Oh well.
Things I would have loved to see with this game:
1. A network update to refresh the team rosters
2. An in-game tutorial
Ugh. I have MLB on my queue for GameFly, and if I like it more, I"m selling MVP. I don't like MVP much. It's SOOOO laggy, and graphics are extremely poor compared to what I'm used to on PSP. 2D people compared to MVP's 3D. I read that the only advantage MVP has over MLB is that its baserunning is better.
i got MLB because it has infrasturcture so i can play other people online. I think thats a big bonus. Havent tried MVP yet but it is definatly a better PS2 game than the PS2 MLB. MLB is made by 989 who arent as advanced as EA although i do enjoy MLB a lot for PSP and play it often. The load times arent great but during the game there isnt much lag.
Does mlb still have the horrible lag when you play online? Also, i have MVP, and have not noticed any lag at all, the screen pixelates when you skip through a replay, but thats pretty much it. Game is just ok though, without infrastructure mode, sports games are just boring.
This game is the worst I've ever played as far as locking up. It has a known bug that when the CPU makes a player substitution, a notice pops up with an "OK" - except that many times it doesn't respond when you hit the X button. The only way to get out is to hit Home and exit the game, losing all unsaved process.
I ended up sending mine back to EA for an unopened copy and returning it to the store. I would not recommend this game to anyone.
It's a shame too, because as far as gameplay - I loved it. But it's just not worth playing 9 innings of a hard-fought game only to lose it all.
