It actually says "to use around the house" only, its better to just watch tv on a big screen tv than a small screen and pay 300 extra bucks

Um, what does an access point have to do with this device? A wireless access point can't connect to my TV, DVD player, or DVR and stream it's content to me wherever I can get an Internet connection.

I just wish we knew for certain if the PS3 will do the same functions as this Base station. I'd be really cautious about buying this before I knew for certain that the PS3 couldn't do the same thing.

Im movin to paris for about 6 months and im debating installing one of these before i leave. $$ is not an issue if i can have my 600 channels and DVR with me overseas, but is video quality worth it? or will i find myself not using it at all? plus would i have to upgrade my psp firmware beyond 2.0? Anybody have any answers or suggestions?

A very neat toy that is not worth more than the 99 bucks it'll be in a year when everyone and their dog has a competing product.

At which time, I'll buy one

I bought one of these a few weeks ago to add into my home network. I have three networked computers on a Cat 5 LAN at home. I added a wireless access point prior to getting the LocationFree device. A few thoughts...the access point lets me surf the net at home on my PSP anywhere in my house. I thought that was pretty cool, until I got the LocationFree on sale at BestBuy. I spent a few hours hooking it up and the upshot it that it does what it says it will...streams my Comcast signal to my PSP. I have not yet fully hooked up other devices due to the wrong type of jack (phone instead of RJ45) near my media center. Once that is swapped out, I'll move the LF there and hook up my DVD player and try that out as well. The video and audio quality (for cable) are pretty good. You can resize the screen as you see fit. The audio is audible in a quiet room with the +2 setting. What I did not realize when I bought this was that it is also a wireless access point for the browser on the PSP. I almost disconnected my other access point until I realized a big limitation to this device: it will only serve one device at a time. If I'm using it to surf or watch Comcast on my PSP, no one else can access it. I'm keeping my wireless access point for now. I have not had an opportunity to take my PSP to a hot spot yet to try the remote function, however if anyone wants me to, just ask. There are several that are local and I can try it at lunch. Another downside is that Sony only gives you one PC license with the device. I have to purchase additional licenses if I want to use the LF on other PCs, like at work or a laptop. Bad Sony! It should have included at least a two to three PC license with the unit for the price. I like being able to watch Comcast on my PC or PSP though. Not bad.

PS3 will defenetly will be a Locatrion free Base, so you can watch TV on your PSP. It was revealed to us (G.A.P Members) a short while ago. So I will be waiting for PS3 which includes it and a Blu-Ray player.

Although you are right when you said it will have location free built into it, I wasn't sure where it was stated anywhere that you would actually be able to watch live tv as you do with this. The problem with the PS3 feeding live tv to your PSP is how are you going to get your cable or other service on the PS3? There are no connections for that. Same problem with the DVR function of the PS3, sony says that they want it on there, they just don't know "how they are going to get it on there." So far I only see the Location Free on the PS3 for any downloaded content you already have.
