Vulcanus Online is a third person action game which takes place in the World War 2 era with mechs. Not much is known and the title may change but so far they have local area network wireless play for up to 4 players, massive amounts of enemies shown on screen and I believe they are looking to bring the game online for internet play.
I hope there is a plot, too. So many mech combat games are just mindless violence. Would be nice if there were well defined goals and puzzles to solve in addition to shooting anything that moves.
I would probably want to buy it if it weren't during WW2. If it were in the future, in WW3 or WW4, then it would seem more reasonable to place
mechs in battle. I'll wait on this game, and maybe rent it. (if companies do start UMD rentals)
errr, yes, it is, hence the name Vulcanus 'Online'
From IGN:
The biggest gameplay feature of Volcanus Online, of course, is its online implementation. Using the power of WiFi, plans call for up to 8 players to take place in intense battles that promise more than a simple deathmatch -- item trading and stealing may be a part of the game design as well. Also, your mech is fully configurable so that players can create their own battle mechs -- and there will be tons of parts and items to collect throughout the game. Item storage is by Memory Stick, so that players can accrue goods and tools while off-line, but there is also planned to be an online Rankings system for stat tracking. Also planned for the feature set is the possible downloading of new game maps and items to add onto the game as its online community evolves.
