I show the video of this it looks promising but it was not smooth. It looked a little choppy but hopefully they will fix this before it comes out. Who would have ever thought that a first person shooter would ever come out on a handheld and look this amazing.

Please let the controls be tight, the frames be smooth, and the gameplay be as worthy as its graphics! Please!

the only way I see the controls being ok is if it mimics the golden eye controls, since there is no right analog.
or maybe they'll let you play the game upside down?!? heh

they are allowing loads of presets and the ability to customise every button/control on the PSP, so, well, its up to you how you control it.

but unless they let you play it upside down, you can't use your right thumb to aim at least I wouldn't want to (if they let you) use the buttons to aim.

I think controls should be like this:
L-change weapon
R-fire
Circle,X.ect. look around
Up, left, ect. move up/down, strafe
R and L at same time- jump

max, you can use the analog to aim, and use the X,O, square and triangle buttons for movement and shoulder buttons to shoot/change weapons, its really up to you, they realise everyone will wanna use different controls

I remember playing a quake game on the dreamcast and because there was only one analog stick it used the face buttons to move and the anolog to look. It was the worst controls ever on a fps, I hope coded arms doesn't end up like that game.

Ok, I have pondered this long before the PSP came out because this is what I do.
Controls for First person
L & R = Strafe left/right
Analog = move Forward/ backward, Rotate left/right
D Pad = left - zoom, up - look up, down - look down, right - center view
action buttons - triangle - reload, circle - Fire, Square - crouch, X - action (open doors jump obstacle)
my setup is perfect, weeks of thought have finally wrought a solution
IT CAN BE DONE. please take not FPS companys.

not quite, look up and down are too important to be on the directional pad in my opinion. it is possible that they wont be that signifigant with some aim assistance or something so your idea may be valid, but i dont know that i would use it. shift buttons are always good because it doubles the amount of assigned keys. earlier i was thinking L=shift R=fire/throw grenade with shift right side buttons=second directional pad or many other actions when used with shift. the analog would be movement and the directional pad would be maybe weapon selection or something. also sidestepping would be using the analog with the shift. i dont know, didnt put much thought into the whole thing but mainly i was thinking some kind of shift button would be useful.
