The Sony PSP headset can be used for audio playback or for SOCOM: Fire Team Bravo (and various future titles) voice communication in infrastructure mode if you're at a hotspot. It can be utilized within SOCOM: Fire Team Bravo much like the PS2 Headset is for the PS2 SOCOM franchise.

about the same quality as the xbox live communication, the only difference is something like this.
Xbox live (xbox- not 360) = 64kbps mp3 quality
PSP voice chat = 32kbps ..
So You can understand people, and can make out pitch and tone very well, but the quality of it sounds a bit compressed.

This might sound dumb but what about possibly using the headset as a phone or something.Maybe sony could include it in a firmware update.Though i dont really know how it all works.It might be impossible.It would be neat though if it was only possible.

Out of pure speculation, a few of us in psp chat always talk about that rlf, including skoo, a lot.
We are under the impression <rumor control> that future updates will include possible non-game based voice chat through the psp's root interface </rumor control>

i mean besides socom on the ps2 what games does it's headset work with? extreme kareokee?

SOCOM is awesome online, but having a mic makes it absolutely the best. There's nothing like working with 7 other people to take out your enemies while chillin' at Starbucks...

rhetorical, in a way, i did.. try recording your voice, and making 2 seperate encodings of it to 2 diferent bitrates (the ones i mentioned) and you'll have a better idea what it sounds like.
