Gradius Portable is a collection of the ultra-popular shooter games by Konami. Featured in one UMD will be classic and enhanced version of Gradius I, II, III and IV and Gradius Gaiden.
There will also be many extras, such as stretching the screen to widescreen mode and actually being able to view more of the playing area. You can also slow the game down, change the hit-detection size. Most important will be the ability to save anywhere simply by pressing Start. So if you die, you can start from your last save point with all your power-ups and status.
An English version has not yet been announced.

This is all weel and good, but these games are pretty old now, what about something new along the lines of Treasure's excellent Gradius V? That would be great, and well suited to the PSP...

it's a horizontal shooter like R-type (gradius I thik pre-dates rtype by 1-2 years, C64 vs amiga). I'll find you some images of both. These are all mushed together, and will include I II III IV and V
**Removed links to images because some people can't afford very minimal bandwidth even though they run sites that demand it. cheap asses. "oh, someone is using up an extra 700k of bandwiudth this month... that costs me an extra 15 cents.. damn i'll be broke" **
I dont believe this PSP release will have V ( I wish ), but all of the others will provide endless replay.. You will not beat each one very quickedited: Jan 30 2006

And here is the line of R-type
*removed links to images, see above.*
Without a doubt in my mind, when you play R-type final for ps2, you'll soon realize it is one of the most beautiful Ps2 games, next to ICO and shadow of the collosus and Gradius V.. Both audio and visual experiences are truly amazing (i'm sure midnight will agree with me on R-type final)
the game is amazing.edited: Jan 30 2006

Good thing I didn't pick up Gradius 3 and 4 for PS2. This is probably coming out to the US since the PSP here needs all the titles it can get and the other Gradius games came out here too.
R-Type Final is the final R-Type game btw. Hence the name. We will *never* see another one again.
when the next PSP comes out there should be an R-Type Collection that includes R-Type, R-Type II, R-Type Leo, R-Type III, R-Type DX (yes the gameboy color r-types), R-Type Delta, and R-Type Final. I'm sure that the next PSP will have 5 gb sized umds or bigger, or maybe even another format, to include all of this. I already own the last three that I listed.edited: Dec 07 2005
