The Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 enables you to capture video content for the Sony PSP from any analog video source, including cable or satellite television, DVD players, VCRs, camcorders, and PVRs such as Tivo.
The video content is saved as MPEG-4 video files, eliminating the hassle of proprietary file formats. Utilizing standard Memory Sticks, you can record content on a card for viewing on your TV, or transfer that content onto your PSP.
Roughly the size of a PDA device, the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder 2 hooks up to your existing home theater components, and allows you to view still photos on your TV or listen to MP3 audio files through your stereo. Additional features include upgradeable firmware for future functionality expansion.

You just can't beat the way that this thing is freeing up my cpu! Instead of transcoding this and encoding that, my computer is FREE to do the important job of archiving these important video files of mine to dvd , cd, hdd, were I can grab them for my PC, PSP, or my NEURO mpeg 4 recorder.
One neat feature, is a setting where the device will start recording when it senses it's input source turning on. For example, if you had it's inputs connected with the rca outputs of a VCR in a timer mode where the unit is off untill the scheduled timer recording turns the VCR on to record , which would trigger the MPEG4 recorders auto record feature.
That's just one way that the timer works . It's timer reminds me of a VCR, without thetuner.

Also, I noticed today that sometimes, my unit would not recognize my sony 2 gb card.

Does it work with Digital Cable?

yes, as long as your cable box has rca outputs........and HD shows look pretty good even through rca!

If you update your psp to 2.7, the video files that this device creates will no longer play. Other mpeg 4 files are fine, part of sony's update was geared tward screwing the good people at neuros. Hopefully, Neuros will provide a quick counter update for the recorder II to repair the situation.
If you own the Neuros MPEG recorder II, LEAVE YOUR PSP AT 2.6 !!!!
