Tazman: proxy stuff is tricky. I recommend you take a screenshot of your proxy settings from IE or Firefox, and mail it to PSP Media Manager tech support. Maybe they can help.

is this software free...or is like another PSPware

And since SONY is getting it's arse kicked by Apple, they only make it for PC.

How in the hell does this thing not support ATRAC???
Nice job Sony. Seemed cool until I heard about that.
Why would we ever pay money for a media management program made by sony for the PSP that would make me use another program for 50% of the functionality desired in their product?
Lame as hell. It's crap to make a product that doesn't support all of the file types when they are so limited in the first place. Sony has a long way to go on these firmwares to get me to update, let alone buy their shotty software.
I give it 2 out of ten.

Waste of $20. Won't let me even READ a DVD, let alone rip it. Worthless.

This looks like it should be easier than dealing with just bare files on any other software. I can't help myself. Synchronized looks and "official" software call to me.

I have tried every software I know of to encode videos to my PSP, and this is like most, not very good. I use PSP Movie Creator by pqdvd.com it is the quickiest and easiest, it can copy and encode a DVD in around 40mins and as long as you dont mind a 600mb+ files sizes the quality is flawless.
Now PSP Media Manager:
The main problem with this piece of software is the lack of internal options for video encoding and file inputs, there is no standard open file menu so people who like to use avisynth need not apply, while the video quality is simply fantastic on high AVC the procedure/time/effort to go from DVD to PSP is simply not worth the bother. First you decrypt the DVD (DVD shrink or DVD Decryptor), this creates the vob file (dont forget the make a single vob file), now you have 2 choices - rename the vob file extenstion to a mov and PSP Media Manager will read the file and you can convert it, the quality will make your mouth drop. But if like me you want to crop the file and/or adjust the brightness to reduce image bleeding on the PSP screen and/or subtitles, then you need to encode the file using other software (i.e. virtualdub or nero) and then re-encode the file using PSP Media Manager to high or low avc. This extra step can take upto 3-4 hours even more when adding subtitles. What we need is software like PSP Movie Creator from pqdvd.com with AVC support or PSP Media Manager with more encoding options (crop, subtitle, color correction etc)
My search for the perfect psp movie converter continues!!
For those interested below is my score for popular psp software!
PSP Movie Creator (pqdvd.com) 90% - need more options to improve video quality otherwise perfect
psp video 9 - 80% - produces fuzzy images that bleed in the psp screen - need color correction options
PSPWare - 80% - nice interface but slow encoding - not enough options
Xilisoft / ImToo - 75% - two different names the same software - not very easy to use - excellent video quality
PSP Media Mamager - 60% - Excellent picture quality but needs more encoding options - and why do you need to have the PSP connected to convert files??
iPSP - 70% - terrible interface
nero recode - 60% - produces very blurred picture quality unwatchable in high action sequences, no avc support
Lathe omniquiti - 50% good features but layout is horrible - avc beta edition it taking way to long to be completed
Elcard PSP Video - 40% produces very horrible files - unwatchable
These are the main ones I have tried, there are others but I cant remember their names, I hope somebody finds this information useful.

Doesnt to atrac. Does it allow you to at least make playlists, artists, genre, etc. ? I just bought myself an iriver h10 because the mp3player
part of the psp sucked so bad. And I got a good deal on it. Plus its alot more portable.

$20, and not worth any penny of it either.

if you squint, the webpage design look a little like the that of apple's website

I need to agree with sabledrakon ... Although it looks good, there's no batch conversion of video and from what I can tell you need to have the psp connected in order to convert video while copying. Painful if you don't have the right formated video... this morning I chewed up >1hr converting a dltv episode and ha to cancel after %58 so I could listen to my podcasts on the way to work.. This is a definate not buy! And whats with haveing to use the usb cable? why can't I sync wirelessly.
