Why didn't they include this with the PSP?
I thought it would make sence to include it with the PSP?
They should at LEAST give a 2 dollar coupon off it.
Aside from being asthetically pleasing, this software is a waste for anybody with a main interest in converting VOB files.
To the 2 fellows who posted a comment about changing the VOB extention to either .MOV or .AVI - I personally could not get this to work w/ either extention, is there something else that needs to be done, or am I missing something? Also, was this comment in regards to 1.0a, or 1.0...? I am using 1.0.
The latest version 1.0a build 193 can convert unencrypted DVDs by reading the .ifo. It can't be any easier than this but there's still no options for cropping, brightness adjusting and things like that.
If you want these extra features you need to get Sonys professional tool for video editing, audio production, compositing, titling and advanced encoding on the PC platform - Sony Vegas 6c which includes the great Sony AVC codec from PSP Media Manager. But at a price of $449.96 Sony Vegas seems way too expensive if you only need it for exporting video and thumnails to PSP. Oddly enough I read in the Sony Media Software forums that Sony Vegas 6c doesn't import DVDs by reading the .ifo like PMM does. You need to use DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink to make one large vob and import into Sony Vegas 6c. It has some filter options for improving the video. It supposedly has all those cool options that PSP Media Manager lacks at the moment. There's a trial version of Vegas 6c that will allow you to use all of the product features for 30 days. I'm not sure if this includes exporting to PSP or if this is only available in the full version.
BTW - although PSP Media Manager (I use v1.0a) doesn't officially support XviD you can trick the software into thinking it's a DivX file with e.g. AVI FourCC Changer. I succeeded in encoding XviD with PMM but sadly the video was partly corrupted, audio was fine. I tried changing the FourCCs to another combination but then an error occured when exporting to PSP. I haven't got alot of experience with editing FourCCs so maybe I'm just doing something wrong. I had DivX 3.11 alpha, DivX 4.12 and DivX 6.1 installed. Now I only have 6.1 and ffdshow but no XviD. DivX 6.1 converts just fine with PMM. But the software seems to randomly dislike the codec. I'm still not sure why. I have encoded with DivX 6.1 with no hassle before but then suddenly PMM wouldn't initialize the DivX files. It was before I installed older DivX versions. Also had DivX 6.0.9 working perfectly in combination with PMM. Sonys tech support recommend uninstalling the PMM software and reinstall if theres codec issues with DivX. Still I used DivX 6.0.9 with PMM just after purchasing the software and were no problems. But after upgrading to 6.1.1.2 the software wouldn't read the DivX files. It was only after installing DivX 3.11 and 4.12 that PMM could initialize the DivX files again. Weird as I've never used those codecs in combination with PMM. Sonys tech support ALSO officially recommend uninstalling XviD if there's issues with DivX. In other words this software still needs to get more polished but I think it has great potential.
how come none of the .avi video files i have are showing up on the pc view panel?(All of the mpg's are showing) Also the website says it supports avi formats! link
I am on the hunt for this medium. I would really like to explore the horizons that this medium ( SONY MEDIA MANAGER FOR PSP) offers.
In doing the research and observing a wide range of reviews, I am optimistic in looking into it and developing my own point of view.
My only problem at this time is...there is no place in my immediate area that has it available. Has Sony stopped making it? I am tremendously unhappy at this time with the MEDIA BOSS, and I really do not want to try any other GENERIC brands to the SONY MEDIA MANAGER for PSP. Any one has any ideas as of how I can obtain it? I do not want to wait a couple of days either for delivery either. Please advise. Thanks.
I considered purchasing this when I bought my PSP. However I am pretty comfortable moving media across myself and I have my favorite ways for video and so forth already. My interest in the product therefore was the RSS and the "built-in list of popular RSS feeds and sites". I presumed that these would be PSP-enabled sites and RSS feeds.
This leads to my question: Does such a list already exist somewhere? Does PSP411 forums have a thread for good websites and RSS feeds for your PSP? I'd like to find a few places that look decent on the PSP and also maybe some RSS feeds that are pertienent to the PSP>
Kool Program only flaw is it only converts certain video media but most of my stuff is in .Avi so who cares, it even did .mov!! I have 2 HP trailers that i couldn't convert with other programs but this worked fine!!
