A supernatural action bonanza from director James Wong, stars martial arts expert Jet Li. With high-tech special effects and innovative choreography, the film places Li in various battle scenarios fighting against his equal--actually, his double, an evil version of himself living from another reality.

Jet Li is the man, the best martial artist (on film) since Jackie Chan was in his heyday (Armour of God etc, downhill after Shanghai Knights). I just don't like this particular film. It's too over the top, far too much wirework and CG enhanced bits. The plot isn't exactly great either. If you want Jet Li, buy Kiss of the Dragon, Unleashed (Or Danny the Dog to the rest of the world), or pretty much any other of his films, this one left me feeling a bit empty.

until jet li creates his own style of martial arts, bruce lee will always be the man in my eyes. jet li is awesome, but jackie chan was crazier in his days. jet li is mainly just fast. as for this movie, wasnt bad but it wasnt great. i was fairly entertained but kiss of the dragon was much better.

I'm afraid I have to disagree Agent808, I don't think that coming up with your own martial art necessarily means you are great, there are far too many various subdivisions and factions in the martial arts world all started by people who want to be the head of something. I do think that Bruce Lee is a legend though, and Jeet Kune Do is an extremely effective martial arts system. Jet Li's remake of Fist of Fury (called Fist of Legend handily enough) is very cool though and actually does justice to the original, in my humble opinion. Anyway enough hogging this review for my own ends :D

you're right, making a martial art doesnt make you great. any fool could make something up and call it a martial art, but bruce lee is a great because he not only made a martial art, he made a great one. i still think hes the man, then jackie chan, then the guy from Ong Bak, then jet li. jet li is awesome still, but i just dont think hes the best. when it all comes down to it though, unless they all fight eachother to submission, no one will ever know who was the best

I say "Once Upon a Time in China" is by far the best Jet Li movie. Romeo is good but nothing compares to some of Jet's older films. If you havent seen them you gotta check it out if your a fan.

i agree with you buddha. i dont really like jet li's later movie like romeo and kiss and the one as much as i would like to. what a lot of people dont know is that before shanghigh noon and romeo must die, these guys were making movies for their market, china and it was then that they were pushing the barrier of 'classic' films. Once upon a time in china is a must see and fong sai yuk is another one. 'my father is a hero' is good as well. Jackie chan's 'drunken master II' is my personal favourite and i believe made time magazine's top 100 movies list. The police story series proved to China and America what real stunt men really are and 'twin dragons' is an excellent comedy for the chinese market. also u have to check out city hunter. sorry if i sound a little obsessed but a lot of people are ignorant to these actors past films. so take a day off, do yourself a favor and checkout your local video store before you say who is better of the two cos ill bet ull find it hard. P.S. i just have to say, watch 'new police story' by Jackie chan, just recently realeased, just to tease you, jackie chan's whole police team about 10 people gets killed right in front of his eyes brutally by a group of rich bored rebels. jackie has to challenge the rebels in small activities and slowly starts to lose his team. one of the most emotional scenes ive ever seen.

For classic Jackie you can't beat Drunken Master (1) or Snake in the Eagle's Shadow too. I love all Jackie and Jet's older films all of which are classics. The only reason I mentioned the lastest few Jet Li one's was because I wasn't expecting anyone to have heard of the older ones or be able to find them (especially the yanks). Anyway, I'm off home for a weekend of Fighting and Film Watching (and hopefully combinging the two!).
