It only changes the front faceplate, and the lcd can be replaced, but were talking about the clear plastic that goes over it. In the case of the original faceplate it can not be replaced unless the whole faceplate is replaced.

10 Reasons Why I Should Buy An Asterix
One - The original vendor doesn't sell them
Two - Replacing the faceplate with the original vendor will cost $120
Three - Asterix is fully compatible with all original and third party accessories as it retains the shape of the original design
Four - Asterix comes in Ferrari Red
Five - Asterix comes in Xypod White, Liquid Silver
Six - Asterix comes in Chrysalis Blue
Seven - Asterix comes in Crystal Dazzle
Eight - Full installation instructions are available online
Nine - Long term smart investment. This is because you only make the purchase of the Asterix faceplate once. Future purchases only involve changing a scratched up lens should the need arise. The faceplate body can be kept for many years to come thus saving you lots of money in the long run.
Ten - There are no other places selling high quality replacement faceplates with replaceable lenses.
l2icel3all, this isnt where i first read it but this is a top 10 reasons list from their site which includes what i said as reason 9

I personally hate this product. It would be way better if it wasn't just a faceplate and more of a set. What i mean is if it was a full cosmetic face and back plate set. It looks kinda stupid in my opinion to have a chrome or whatever color you want to call that plate in the front and then have the same plain old black sony psp back. It would definately appeal more to me if thats how it was. Its not a true faceplate in the sense that the psp wasn't designed to handle faceplate changes like a cellphone would IE: Snap -on but for those who want to open their psp I wish you luck.

I agree it would be cool if you could change the back but that would complicate things since the psp's motherboard and other tech components are attached to it. Theres also a new little post on their site saying that theyre working on making screens with some new technology that would virtually eliminate scratches.

Meh. You can't really see much of the back of my PSP in my case. And, well, I got a good six months out of that warranty so far. I baby my PSP enough to not worry about voiding it early.
This is going to be awesome. . .

this has an advantage of fitting in my playgear... but if instead i get a faceplate that clips on... fitting into the playgear pocket will be tight

A warernty is s warenty. It's either voided or not. You can't badly void it. But I see your point. I really don't see why the warenty matters, though, becasue it expires after a while, and if nothing bad happens in teh first couple batttery charges, you should be good to go.

For all those that have placed orders... Has anyone received any e-mail or confirmation of your order or shipment of your order?
I received an e-mail from PayPal that my payment was processed, but nothing from the company.
I surely hope this is NOT "vaporware"!

Hmmm... I think the company that is making these must monitor this site.
After posting my above question... I received an e-mail confirming my PRE-order.
They MIGHT start shipping SOMETIME in MID-October.
