omg you're kidding, right? last i checked the PSP was a PORTABLE console... imagine carrying that around with you. or worse yet, actually USING it in public!

I've been working VR gear for a while now. I have an old i-glasses setup from the vio days complete with head tracker. I also have several different shutter glasses based rigs. The tech was just not quite there when the big VR boom happened, but all the gear I've still got laying around rocks with modern computers. If they were trying to pull off 3d for the PSP this would (technically) do the trick. But I don't see anyone using it. For a lot of people just holding the thing gets cumbersome at times. Imagine if you had to hold it to your face at the same time...
Depending on the refresh rate of the screen, it would make more sense to use a shutter glasses style system that would connect to the USB port, or even the audio jack for sync data. However, I can't really imagine that the PSP's sharp LCD has a refresh rate greater then 75hz. To get decent 3d from shutter glasses you'd need to have 120hz. Anyway, interesting but completely pointless... Just look at the Virtual Boy for a stunning success story involving "mobile" stereo gaming.
For the PC, 3d is viable these days but this looks more like a joke then a real product. Unfortunately.

this looks cool. i made a frenel lense projector like this. it would project the image from a regular monitor onto the wall. total cost $10. cool thing was if you looked into the box the monitor image was extremely large. cool effect but un practical (3foot by 3 foot cardboardbox attached to the front of your monitor that's 1 or 2 inches from your face.

grimjack,
i'm still curious. even if they don't pull off the 3d the perceived increased screen will be cool. hopefully it works with other games and movies. even tho there have been a lot of attempts in the past how many of them were done by sony (or by a third party of sony i should say)? i'm with you on this. i hope the advances in new technology help.

it would work better with a game where things popping out would scare you. like for a resident evil or house of the dead. Not much is really suprising in metal gear acid. maybe theyll make the hud stick out

This IS a joke? Right? Joking?
This thing is three times the size of the PSP.
No way I'm going to hold the PSP up to my face for any amount of game play time.
As someone else mentioned... you are not going to be portable and playing this on the train or bus with this thing attached.

can you feel the cross-eyed migrains coming on? who in their right mind would WANT to glaze their precious vision THAT close to the screen? paaassss.

what the f*** is that!?! ~full metal jacket

Wow, I can't imagine making a more lame accessory

Mooshy said: "there is no way on earth this is the real model, konami hasn't even released any official pictures of the real model, the 3d glasses will be packaged with the game, so i can't see how this is going to be bundled with the game, it's huge. So my assumption is this is fake!"
Good assumption, except that they have officially announced it: link

This has got to be a hoax. This can't be real. I can see this lame device on a Lameboy but not the PSP. Come on... what are they thinking?
+
Thats a joke you would look like a complete head using that.
+
there goes the "cool" factor for having psp, welcome to nerdom!!!!! i hope this is not true, i would not be caught dead wearing this thing.
+
Add a tripod and you have a Virtual Boy.... Crap Whatever
