Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner, by Kouji Okada, producer of the Shin Megami Tensei series is a game in which you can capture over 100 monsters and store them in a jewel. The main character, Vyse, is on a quest to find out who or what murdered his mother. Vyse will travel with his jewel monster friend Shateen; and he will team up with 2 friends in his journey, including Grey, the son of the parliament leader; and Lin, a prophet who thinks the Shateen will bring destruction to the world.
I was kind of hoping for a Pokemon style game, and the one vid at gamespo* looks like the graphics are upped a little. To me it was one of the hardest RPG games out there, trying to know the abilities of hundreds of creatures, and planning combos. Of course it is overated at this time and they never upped the cheesy graphics much in what 9 versions, but still a Pokemon game from a FPS would be nice.
they just released new screens of this game, it's looking great...I really really hope it comes to the US...I've liked pokemon for years and this looks to be a more serious more mature version of pokemon
If this is anything like the other Megami games (which it probably will be), we can all rest assured that it will be good. I have played a few installments in this series, and they have all been intense, dark RPGs (Degital Devil Saga for the PS2 has the most intense story sequences i've ever witnessed in a game); definitely not for kids. Again, if this follows the trend, it would be like the Pokemon that decides to go Columbine on the others and then proceed to consume their flesh, succesfully making a demon-zombie-pokemon.
