The main character, Vyse, is on a quest to find out who or what murdered his mother. Vyse will travel with his jewel monster friend Shateen; and he will team up with 2 friends in his journey, including Grey, the son of the parliament leader; and Lin, a prophet who thinks the Shateen will bring destruction to the world. To me it was one of the hardest RPG games out there, trying to know the abilities of hundreds of creatures, and planning combos. I have played a few installments in this series, and they have all been intense, dark RPGs (Degital Devil Saga for the PS2 has the most intense story sequences i've ever witnessed in a game); definitely not for kids.
