The Theater Experience features the same technology as the charger case so it also includes a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery that adds 5 hours of playtime to the PSP.
The Theater Experience will do everything that the charger case does plus it also features two stereo speakers, headphone jack and an adjustable viewing angle making it ideal for watching movies.
The two stereo speakers provide High Fidelity sound.

I rushed out and bought one too, and I think I'm pretty happy with it, but there are a few things I'd like to complain about. First of all, I read on this board and other places that the viewing angle was "adjustable". One site even said specifically that it had "five adjustable viewing angles". This is totally false. There is only one position. So this was a disappointment. In the manual it even says (as if we're all idiots) "if you want to adjust the viewing angle, move the entire unit closer to you or further away from you"!! Can you believe that?!?! The second thing is, on the outside front of the case there are two places for the cords to attach ... on the left for headphones, and on the right for the power cords. These have junky plastic covers over them that are attached by a short tether so that you cannot remove them fully (similar, but worse than the cover on the PSP that shields the memory stick). These are terrible because they don't snap into place at all, so they are always sort of hanging there, looking ugly. Very poor design in that regard. Those are my two basic complaints. I also didn't really care for the sound quality you get through the speakers. It seems to sound great for games, but I'm not going to be playing games while the PSP is in the case, as it's not comfortable to do so. I would just use the speakers for watching movies, and when I did so, even though it was loud enough, the levels seemed imperfect. The voices of the actors seemed much lower than the rest of the audio, so that it was hard to understand what people were saying. For this reason, I might never end up using the speakers, and so that part of it was a waste of money for me. I do like the case overall though. Perhaps I'm just telling myself that so that I'll feel better about paying $80.00 for a case, but it is a sturdy thing that should protect the PSP. And even though the viewing angle is not adjustable, it is good to have something that props up the PSP so I can watch movies, without having to carry around a separate PSP stand, which definitely would take up more space. And the battery life extension aspect of it is definitely worth some bucks, since it really gives it a lot more hours. If I could have made the case myself, I would have made room for a couple of games and a few memory sticks. That would have been great.

I got the Theater Experience yesterday after work & Circuit City.
I had really high hopes for this product, because the concept covered all the bases.
A case, internal re-chargable battery, stand & powered speakers. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I wish I never bought this thing.
The case itself looks very, very cool & well made. Except for the little plastic covers for the power & audio inputs.
The covers are crap and it's a struggle to keep them on in proper place.
But my biggest gripe, is the sound quality. The biggest selling point for this item in this high price range.
There is something terribly wrong with the audio circuit in this device.
There is a constant low pitch hum AND a very distinct high pitch whine sound that comes from the speakers.
The static white-noise is present at all volume levels as well. But it's un-deniably easier to hear with the volume turned all the way down.
You can hear it clear as day. Pretty loud and noticable too.
I thought I had just gotten stuck with a bad unit, so I went to a DIFFERENT Circuit City store to do the exchange.
The same problem occured with the second unit. But I discovered something in the process.
If you press the button to disable the PSP Screen, like you would do to only listen to audio MP3, the High pitch whine is gone.
I turned the screen back on again, and the high pitch whine came blaring back through the speakers.
It sounds like something isn't grounded properly.
Please also note that the LOW PITCH hum was always present, and never went away. With the screen on OR off the buzz was there.
This was the case with both the units that I got from Circuit City.
Just as a note... I also own the Hip Gear Sound Stage & the Logitech PlayGear Amp.
I never had a problem like this with the other two units.
If anyone out there has purchased the Nyko Theater Experience, please check your units at LOW volume for this distortion sound.
If anyone is having better luck & found an undamaged unit without the audio problems, please post your results.
As for this second unit... ... it's going back to the store for a refund. The Logitech sound quality is WAY better anyway.
Buyer Beware.
Good luck to all.

Actually, this has been available at Circuit City since early last week.
The readers of this site come here looking for information.
Are they dumb? I don't think so.
Those who are quick to criticize, like yourself? ...I'm not so sure.

It only recently came out here too. I'd been waiting a while and checking regularly. But it turned out to be a waist. It already broke down on me. so now I have the logitech.

For those interested, I purchased and returned 3 units from 3 different Circuit City's, hoping that I was just having some bad luck. There is an inherent problem with the circuitry of the product in that it causes an extremely annoying and quite noticable 'buzzing' when the PSP in plugged in and 'on'. To have the volume low, or to try and listen with headphones is a really quite impossible. Since I liked the concept as much as I did (7 hours of charge time, decent travel case, speakers), I contacted NYKO directly. Much to my surprise, not only did the Director of Marketing reply, but so did the manager of Quality Control. They both admitted that there was in fact a problem with the wiring, and that in 3-6 weeks the new products would be released. This new unit would also include an on/off switch - currently it is automatically 'on' once the PSP is connected. Being somewhat sadistic, I purchased a 4th unit (oh yes, same problem), and they instructed me to ship it to them directly, and once the new ones have passed quality assurance (what in hell happened with the first ones, but thats a different story) it would be shipped to me. I am quite happy to hear this as I had also purchased (and yes returned) the Logitech Amp, which does sound very good, but is not very portable, it needs its own adapter (or 4 AAA batteries) and overall is just clunky to set up and pack away. Hope this helps would-be buyers, it looks to be a decent idea, and this re-release should make it a decent product as well.

tmats - I ran into the same problem with my unit as well and received the same response. I'm glad they didn't put a fight like I expected with the way customer service, or lack there of, these days. The tech was very polite and contacted me within the day on each email I sent him. I do think it sucks that they Q&A team are a bunch of drunk monkeys but at least they're going to fix it without cost. I still think they should have covered the shipping charges both ways. I sent mine off two weeks ago and still haven't received anything so we'll see what happens.

tmats - I just received my upgraded unit and it is improved over the last one in a few ways. There is a switch on the bottom that has been added so that there isn't a draw on the PSP when in the case, it is switches the charging of the PSP on and off for travel. There is a button with an LED in it to turn on and off the amp for the speakers that sound much better than the old ones and don't give the feedback that the oringinal used to give. This is plugged in and unplugged as well. For my trouble they sent a letter of apology and a free face armour sheild that clips onto the PSP. It sucks that they released a product from Q&A that was faulty, but they were willing to fix it and improve it without charge so I'm happy with Nyko since in this day and age most companies would have denied responsiblity by saying it was like that to keep the cost down which is total BS!

I have one, nothing EXTREMELY AWSOME, but rather mildly awesome. I can be sure my psp will never break in it. The charging is awesome. It is very long to make room for the speakers. The speakers aren't the best quality(they are good though, listening to slipknot from Infected was great) but they do hipe up the sound about 4x. Movies are great in it so are games. The speakers SERIOUSLY suck the cases battery down when on. It is very important you turn them off when you are done or buy the next day (even when you don't use it) the batteries of it will be dead. I would give it an 85%.
I had no problems whatsoever
BTW, Those flappy rubber things are soooooo annoying.. I figured I might put velcro on the underside of em and in the sound and power bay.
