ffmpegX is a Mac OS X graphic user interface designed to easily operate more than 20 powerful Unix open-source video and audio processing tools including ffmpeg the "hyper fast video and audio encoder", mpeg2enc the open-source mpeg-2 encoder and multiplexer and mencoder the mpeg-4 encoder with subtitles support.
Agreed. This is one of the best freeware video-encoding software you can get for your mac.Its a bit tricky in the beginning to figure the different functions out but after a time you get it worked the encoded videos are really great.
::EDIT:: ooh yes,you are right elroy,i forgot this is shareware.but its still worth the 15 bucks.
Yeah, I've tried a lot of those 'one click solution' apps for encoding and what not, but I always end up going back to FfmpegX because it's just so damn powerful and (once you get to know it) easy to use.
Don't forget though, while it is free to use the developer has put a huge amount of work into making FfmpegX the awesome app that it is - so shelling out the measly $15 to show your support is a worthwhile investment.

See the screenshot above? Where it says "Source File," specifically in the box where it says "VOB" (when you use it, it will say something else). then, where it says (in the screenshot) MP4 H.264, click on it. When you drop it, it'll say something like AVI. Click on that, it'll change into a drop-box. Select PSP. You can tweak the quality settings in Video and Audio tabs. Make sure you visit the Options Tab to insert a name for your PSP to display.
I'd recommend after selecting PSP from the drop box using these settings: VIDEO/VideoBitrate: 768kb/s & AUDIO/Audio bitrate to 128kbit/s - I find using these settings I can get a full converted dvd movie say around 2 hours long, down to around 400mb. Important: DON'T CHANGE THE FILE NAME ONCE SAVED, AS THE PSP READS THE FILE NAME AS INFORMATION. Your movie once converted (it can take a while converting) will look similar to this: M4V07116.MP4 This file name musn't be changed otherwise the PSP will not recognise the file.
