Infected's story begins during Christmas time in New York City, and a strange virus has appeared, turning normal people into insane, violent Infected. Rookie Officer Stevens is one of the first victims of the Infected, but unlike others, Stevens is immune and doesn�t lose control. It�s then discovered that Stevens� immune blood can be used to destroy the otherwise unkillable Infected. Doctors create a special �viral gun� that fills shells with blood from Stevens� arm and blasts them straight into the Infected, causing them to explode.
The game takes place from a third person perspective and its primary focus is carnage, lots and lots of carnage. Infected promises lots of gore as the Infected will splatter blood everywhere when killed, and combos will spill even more blood on the city streets.
You won�t just be limited to a basic gun, as Stevens will be able to duel-wield any of the game�s wide range of weapons. You�ll also be able to call in air strikes, and even light fires that will ignite chains of the Infected.
Infected features wireless multiplayer combat, which includes deathmatch and team deathmatch, and even allows you to create and join clans. Players create their own character or avatar, and those who are victorious in combat can "infect" the loser's PSP system with their avatar and gain ranking points. Avatars can be defeated through a variety of methods, as well as passed along from player to player thus creating a viral chain letter of attack.
I don't know how people can relate this to Resident Evil, yea there's the whole zombie theme, but this is like an arcade shooter. I saw a hands-on review at 1-up.
You people are forgetting that this game will have online multiplay via infastructure and ad-hoc. When you beat your opponent, you 'infect' his PSP. That means, the next time he plays the game, he'll have to play as YOU with text that you send him giving him the smackdown.
I really want it it looks awesome and i heard if u beat somebody online you will erase some of their single player data.
and when they play 1-player your avatar will be there mocking you and running around
I think the main focus is multiplayer, but as far as storyline goes it will probably give you a backstory on what's happening and not have much plot development beyond that.
As mentioned above, the goal in Infected is to cure the world of the ever-increasing zombie menace. This means most of your time is spent splattering zombie parts all over the city. Infected is a third-person action title that controls somewhat like a first-person shooter. Movement of your character is delegated to the analog stick, while the "X" button fires your conventional weapons and square fires your "viral gun" which is a gun powered by your super zombie-killing blood. The left shoulder button calls up a real-time map that displays friendly and enemy units, where the right shoulder button locks on to enemies so you can circle strafe around them while blasting them to bits. You switch weapons in the game by pressing left or right on the directional pad. Pressing up and down on the direction pad lets you perform a Resident Evil-like "about face" maneuver so you can turn around in a hurry.
The controls, from the mouths of ign. Dude this may finally be the game that we can all get excited over. I thought it was just some dumb zombie game too. And it is! It's NOTHING like RE. It's fast llike Unreal, comborific like a fighter, and uber crazy. You have to watch videos from ign or read their previews. It's really sounds bonkers. When I saw "Arial Combo" flash on the screen during a video, I knew we'd all be in for a treat. Not sure why some of you guys are shooting this down already. This is the shot in the decaying arm that psp needs right now.
