Why fuss with all those conversion programs when you can just record movies and TV straight to your Memory Stick? Hori's Memory Stick PRO Duo Video Recorder allows you to do just that. There are four different recording modes:
Meh, not interested. I buy most of my movies on DVD-Video, and some movies (such as T2 and Appleseed) on UMD-Video. I'm not into ripping and converting junk.
Instead of coupling this with a PSP, you use it in conjunction with one of the Sony HDTVs that accept memory sticks, like the KD-34XBR960 or KD-34XS955. The result is that you can record television shows on tiny tiny memory sticks that you insert in the TV when you want to watch. I don't pretent it is uber-practical, but watching your favorite TV show by putting a tiny memory stick in your TV is way cool.
Except that the quality on a TV isn't so good. TV signal is much higher than 320 x 240. Stretch that out to a HDTV that's say 30" and you've got crap quality. I'd rathert just use my TV tuner card in my computer (or get one if you don't have it) and output my signal to my TV (or just watch it on my LCD monitor); it captures at 720x480 which is standard definition TV signal and I can capture to my hard drive instead of expensive memory sticks. I can then convert my videos using PSP Video 9 for watching on my PSP. It's a good method for getting a spare TV and ATI makes a fairly cheap entry level Tuner Card which is quite nice.
I have a 2 Gig Memory stick and am dying for this product to come out.I would pay double the price they have this thing listed at cause to me it would be so easy to use and worth that considering the headaches I am going threw no just to figure out how to put movies on my memory stick. Please release this thing in the US soon.
