PSP Hotpot synchronizes and converts media between PSP and Windows. It includes a simple yet versatile UI for both batch and drag-n-drop copy. Software is updated almost every week. So far, it supports:
• Improved iTunes synchronization. Converts AAC songs to MP3. Beta 3 includes a cache to speed up conversion.
• Picture conversion and sorting (to preserve comics, ebook and slide show order).
• MP4 video conversion on-par with other video conversion software.
• Internet favorites synchronization and other PSP v2.0 features to be available soon.

Aaahhh, iTunes can make MP3 files, PSPVideo 9 rocks and pictures can be sorted into folders...
So what's the real point of this?

To Delvien, have you tried the program before you comment ? If so, I would like to know which part does not meet your needs. I wrote Hotpot to solve friends' problems.
To Varchesis, Hotpot is written to sync your favourite digital assets to their PSP quickly. Unlike other programs I have used, it's more versatile and can handle end-to-end tasks.
w.r.t. Hotpot's iTunes support...
Many people don't use the iTunes MP3 file encoding (because AAC is more efficient and some don't know they could switch to MP3). Hotpot can also convert protected iTunes songs to MP3 (or MP4 for PSP 2.0). But you need to have Fairkeys and DeDRM installed on your computer first. Essentially one can hand-picked a few all-time favorite songs and then shuffle the rest to your PSP. All these files are subjected to a quota management system that you set up using a slider (because people have small memory sticks). Other programs only allow you to select complete playlists.
PSP display files in ascending date order (instead of alphanumeric filename order). So it messes up slide show presentation (e.g., if you're reading an eBook with page number as part of the filename).
As for PSPVideo9, it's using ffmpeg media engine. The same one in Hotpot.

While Hotpot can also convert video files, Hotpot and PSP Video 9 are very different creatures by design. Hotpot is more like PSPware.
That said, Hotpot can also support AVISynth. Please see link for more details. The AVISynth capability is in ffmpeg itself, not PSP Video 9. The support was implemented by the Japanese programmer, mobilehackerz.

LOL. Not all the Hotpot features are enabled at this point in time. Perhaps it will make more sense when everything is turned on ;^)
For now, I have beta 5 (next weekend) to shoot for.

Hi digi,
Thanks for your input ! I think what you are saying is: I am satisfied with the manual way of copying music/video/picture files to PSP. This is certainly true for many people. I'm cool with that 8^)
Hotpot is currently designed for others with extensive media needs. For instance, I have a few thousand photos and songs, plus some videos and a long list of Internet Favorites and keywords (to simplify PSP 2.0 typing) to sync to my PSP. Some of which cannot be done manually in a reasonable fashion (e.g., forcing PSP to display the photos in the correct order, converting and shuffling *all* iTunes songs to PSP). For people who have simple needs but dislike navigating the folders repeatedly, or dealing with PSP's idiosyncracies then you can also give Hotpot a test drive.

Hi folks,
Hotpot beta 5's web integration is coming along nicely. But I'm running a little late this week (probably can only release beta 5 on Sunday but we shall see). Here's why:
After copying all your media files to PSP, Hotpot beta 6 (or 7) will be able to generate a web-based media manager for PSP 2.0. It would be great if you could tell me what you think of the media manager by reading and commenting on the media manager here: link

Beta 5 is in. Includes:
* MP3 to AAC conversion (for people who use MP3 encoding in iTunes) -- Thanks to jlanzago for his feedback.
* PSP 2.0 bookmark synchronization
* PSP 2.0 typing history personalization (to speed up keyboard inputs)
* Assorted UI enhancements and bug fixes
Beta 6 should have more extensive web support (See above links), before I come back to revamp media conversion (most likely using QT).

hey its not a bad program for syncing with your psp when you wanna go to bed instead of staying up and trying to config some . Its one of the best programs to do a "set it and forget it" sync with your psp since you have to convert a lot of files and that takes time. Program crashes from time to time when your messing around with it, but its a beta so hey its bound to happen.
I hope he continues to improve upon it, its a good idea. I wish there is options to change resolution... I like widescreen low quality :P
