Space Invaders Evolution encapsulates the Evolution ethos by taking the original concept into entirely new ground with its Future Mode. The game ombinesg furious shooting action with multiple viewpoints and incorporates rhythm action elements.
The basic premise of repelling an invasion remains the same, only this time the battle is fought in space with the player controlling a mobile cannon moving along an orbital path. The main objective is subtly different as levels are completed by destroying an elusive mothership, rather than simply clearing the screen of enemies. The catch is that this crucially important vessel can only be harmed by executing special attacks fuelled by items harvested from destroying waves of invaders that it constantly seeds.
With an all-new 3D engine, Space Invaders Evolution marries the potential of the PSP hardware with a conceptual collision of old and new, providing all the thrills of the arcade legend in its original form as well as revitalising the franchise with a startlingly original diversion from the well-trodden path of logical, progressive updates. However, there's more to the package as Space Invaders Evolution also features a now-standard classic mode as well as two additional multiplayer game types.
why do people keep playing the same old crap, when they bought the most expensive machine they could ? You want a shoot'em up, buy (or rent...) something that's less than twenty years old or more !
And don't "evolution" anyone : the game still looks like it's been designed and drawn by me. Except I would'nt pretend to sell anything this bad to any player who still has a brain.
Mon dieu! Notre amie Francais n'est pas heureux! Quelle horreur!
I'm less disappointed, because I realize that Everthing has been done to death. For a platform with precious few shoot-em-ups, I welcome something with some twitch value to it. And remember, games are so damned expensive to make that publishers are looking for every angle possible to limit risk. Space Invaders was hot in the 70s - why not 30+ years later?
Didn't you guys know that PSP = PlayStation Ported?
Just kidding I think this one looks cool. I just hope they manage to do something good of it - look at the classics for Nintendo DS, they're pretty mediocre and dull :/
