It took ages before Gameboy / GBA had decent RPG's. Straight out of the bat, the PSP is featuring a great looking RPG. Can't wait to see this one translated.
Saw a video for this game, and I was extremely dissapointed. Sure, it looks beautiful and seems to play just like those classic RPG's of yore, but check out the loading times for *a battle*! It takes a good 3-5 seconds from the time you touch a monster on the playing field to the time you get to actually start fighting. And then once you're done fighting, there's another few seconds just to get into the regular world. How tragic. Especially when you take into consideration Sony's chosen demographic. These are the people who don't have that much time, the last thing I really want to do is waste 10-15 hours of total time just waiting for loads. Gutting
Man.. that sounds nasty... They should have fitted a microdrive in the PSP to pre-load certain contents when playing games :P or have certain elements load into the RAM when playing
Yes but the PSP has only so much memory I think 8MB, but maybe I'm being optimistic! The PSP can't avoid the problem since they went with the UMD ... but what's the alternative? ROMs can't store that much info as cheaply! Games may either be more expensive or less intense in visuals and audio, and then we wouldn't have PS2-level games in a handheld!
Well there is the downloadable game option. Just make sure you have a lot of 4GB memory sticks handy! :D
I have the game and it plays like Dragonquest series. It isn't the most exciting game in the world but more like a really classic japanese game. There is a short load time when you go between scenes as well. But that seems to be the only decent if not only RPG to have come out for PSP for now.
This is Legend of Heroes, only a seqel, Gagharv is the name of the series in Japan, they also have a Tear of Vermillion but under the Gagharv series. I played Legend of heroes and I cant wait for this to come out because Legend of Heroes is by far my favorite RPG for PSP.
