SanDisk Memory Sticks are well known to be faster than sony memory sticks, I have no idea why, but there were multiple tests performed on both sony and SanDisk memory sticks, and SanDisk outperformed sony. Also they are much cheaper than sony memory sticks.

Hmmmmm "cheaper". I have never seen SanDisk cheaper than Sony here in the States. I have several 1GB sticks 1 SanDisk and a few Sonys cause they were always cheaper and they work fine. I haven't noticed any performance difference between the two, except the SanDisk is sexier looking.

Current Best Buy price for 1GB.
Sandisk 124.99, Sony 109.00

Lol.. I bought my 1 gb in August for less than they are asking now. SanDisk, in my experience, has always been less expensive. Sony loves to make propriotory stuff, then charge you out the arse for it. Buy the SanDisk version. Cheaper..at least as good..and since like me..you probably dont want to outright stop buying Sony products over their rootkit thing, its one little thing you CAN do.

I paid 89$ for a 1 gig Sandisk,,,,sony is always much highre...I dunno what "onlinemike" is talking about....third party stuff is ALWAYS cheaper than Sony branded. Look on sonystyle.com and check out their prices for the memsticks.... $99 for 1 gig i believe and 199$ for 2 gig....the 2 gig HIGH SPEED is nearly $500!!!!! Nope I think I'll stick w/ sandisk....saw on EBAY 2 gig sticks starting at 124$ buy now price....

Well, it just depends on who you buy it from. I just recently bought the Sony 1 gig mem stick for $99, but it came with a $15 rebate, so $84. Circuit City also had the 1 gig SanDisk for $109. So it really depends, third party is not ALWAYS cheaper.

This is a forum discussion about 2.0 GB MemoryStickDuo, not the 1.0GB. Thanks!
