If you get a WHITE PSP from Japan... it will NOT play U.S. UMD movies.
It WILL play games from any region.
Do NOT expect Sony to release any update to unlock UMD movie region-coding.

I have never understood why DVDs are region-coded.
It seems that DVD sales would increase if DVDs were not locked.
There are many foreign DVDs I would like to buy if I could play them.
The issue of copy protection is total BS!

movies are region coded because they are released at different times all over the world....for instance, if spiderman2 is realeased in the US 3 months before the UK then everyone would import and then 3 months down the line when it is released nobody would buy it, therefore making sales look rubbish...and it is all about sales and target audiences!

There is no release plan or date for the WHITE PSP in the U.S.
There are places on-line where you can purchase and import the WHITE PSP.

Aamir123 : Yeah it is.. Looks similar to the White iPods.. and to be honest.. In my opinion, the color white makes it appear as if it were small. Most ppl think that it's a new iPod Video.
This thing TURNS HEADS! - even from Black PSP Owners, so if your a shy person that doesn't like to call attention to yourself, then your best bet is to go for the black one (Even though that still turns heads).
