Shaolin was an art practiced through the ages; a skill mastered in the heart. In Shaolin Soccer, it is so much more than a philosophy for six young believers. It is a complete way of life. But as the world changed around them, and Honor and Discipline become forgotten virtues, they lose their way - except for one loyal follower, Sing (Chow). With the help of a former soccer star, he reunites his old, out of shape, misfit friends, and recruits a young woman with extraordinary Kung Fu skills. Together, they're out to combine the ancient power of Shaolin with the modern game of soccer and in the process, just might take the world's most popular sport to its most extreme.
This was the movie before "Kung Fu Hustle" which was supposed to come to America in theatres but never made it. Its a great movie, you gotta see it to believe it.
this was a really funny movie..stupid funny, but funny none the less...if you liked kung fu hustle and/or kung pow you must get this movie the second they take it out of the box and put it on the shelf
On the DVD version, the subtitles don't always match the spoken dialog (both English). Also, the Cantonese version's English subtitles are different again. Yet another amusing aspect to the whole thing. "Underestimate!" That was the very first movie that I processed from DVD to Memory Stick for the PSP.
Kung Fu Hustle - on DVD August 8th.
Kung Pow - I didn't 'get' it (understand the humour). It just seemed to be a bad movie. Maybe it is a '6 beer movie'.
The DVD version has two versions (different durations) - US version (English) and Cantonese (only) version. English subtitles are on both versions. You have to watch it about three or four times to catch everything.
Can't speak to your question about the UMD version - but it must include at least the spoken English version.
It's just hilarius!!! I couldn't stop laughing!!! It's a project of a 5 million dollars budget with great visual fx. A very cool parody glitches of a few movies like Jurassic Park, Scream and the Thin Red Line. It has a few moments of drama very good acted. A "Must have" movie indeed.
i've had this movie on dvd for awhile, the u.s. version has a ton of horrible songs that made me want to vomit atomic. but the cantonese version is alright, get kung fu hustle instead.
