Modern take on the original classic shooter. Taito calls it a "Beat Shooter", implying that some rhythm elements will be present. There are many modes in the game -- Future, Match-Up, Wireless and a Classic mode with the original black/white 2d version. Wireless let's up to 4 players go head to head, Future mode is the 3D shooter that implements the game soundtrack into gameplay (think Lumines, but slightly different) and Match-Up allows 2 players to go at it using one PSP!
Ye of such little faith! People might've waved off Lumines based on the screenshots, but look how popular that game became. Give it a chance, then make your decision.
I don't think the lifespan of the game would be an issue. I personally am not a huge Space Invaders fan, preferring Galaga over it. The point being, the games are roughly the same and to this day I will fire up my Xbox with a copy of MAME and play Galaga for an hour. I for one like the idea of an arcade game on a portable system.
Hm, I'll check it out from work when it comes out (God I love my job) but I won't buy it. I'll post a review on it from that, should give me enough time with it.
