How is this case? Doesn't look like there's anything to keep it from popping out the open end?

this is the one that comes with the value pack, according to ign, it's kinda useless since it's a soft case, won't really protect it from heavy impact.

And yes, it's an open end...I sure hope mine never falls out. Although only for the psp, I have slid in 2 umd's along the back side of the psp and it feels more secure and the bulk hardly noticeable.

It has a very snug fit, so I don't see how it could pop out. However it'd be nice to have a hardcase of some kind for it. Like the cases you have for a pair of glasses.

so basically it sounds like the soft case is not really necessary

Well, from what I've heard about the screen getting scratched / thumb-printed very easily, it sounds like some sort of protection is necessary. For lack of alternatives, this looks like an essential?

the alternative, would be that pink bag that covers the PSP when you first take it out. It works quite well for me

It gives it protection from scratches and can be folded away into your pocket, which you can't do with eyeglass-style cases.

well, it's open on one end so you can still listen to music (trough headphones) while your PSP is in there
At least I gues... :P

Its not a bad case... but I am concerned about some dirt going in there and scratching the screen... also removing and inserting the PSP repeatedly for a long time will likely cause scratches with this case regardless. But it works for me for now, 'till I find something better.

zigzag get a plastic screen protector to cover your screen and protect it, the only thing im worrie about in this case is the impact protection, my stuff gets bumped around and i dont want to break my exteremly expensive system

I think that this is a fairly good case considering it comes with the psp. Most of us who are going to be ocd about our psps will probably buy a screen protector of some kind so that takes of the possibility of scratching. Also i would like to be able to carry this around in my pocket and other bulkier cases wouldnt let me do that. Although i have taken a liking to that new logitec case since its snug and solid. Definetly a good alternative to people lookin for something compact.

For convience i think this is the best case so fare, and it has a little cut on one side to expose the headphone jack and wrist strap, which is pretty handy and unseen in most other cases right now
