1. I heard about 3rd party batterys exploding in phones... I might wait to see if there are any issues before picking this one up.
This is because El Cheapo(tm) phone batteries do not have a current regulator on them. This means that they appear to last longer as the last vesrtiges of power are drained, but if they are ever shorted, there is nothing to stop the current spiking, the thus a large release of heat.
the entire thing is a battery to allow for the longer battery life. instead of a battery and cover, they make one big battery that fits like a cover on to the psp
Looks good. From the pics, it doesn't seem to stick out at all, but I could be wrong. I have used replacement 3rd party batteries before, and they have been fine. I have a 3rd party spare battery for my XDA II Mini PPC Phone, and its fine. I swap between using the original and the spare, and they last about the same (both are 1200mAh).
Does anyone know if it adds to the size of the PSP in any way? Does it make that part of the PSP thicker or is it the same size as with the battery cover on?
Well if it adds some extra size that it's not going to fit well in playgear, i'd rather buy a spare battery and stick it on my key chain somehow for emergency use.
