no offense to the makers but this looks like a game-boy advance game =/

Finally a shooter!!!!!!!! Looks like I've got something to import soon. I love this genre. I wish it were more popular. So what if it looks like GBA. It's not in motion and it's for portable anyway. I hope it's good and we see more.

I doubt the GBA could pull off any Sengoku Ace game, let alone this. I really don't think these screenshots are doing the game any justice. Viva la 2D twitch-shmup gaming! I WILL be importing this one, no question about it.

This may not be the one, but the PSP is perfect for side-scrollers! I hope more come out.

games that should immediately come out for PSP.

-RTYPE final (with bonus of all past RTYPEs playable)
-gradius V
-Ikaruga (which might be hard considering the wide vs vertical wide playtype (it has margins, and would be useles on PSP)
-mars matrix (omg, i have never had the patience to get past level one on this rediculously hard shmup)
-Mobile light force I & II (yes yes, i'm sure you have seen that horrrrrrible PS2 cover in stores, with the three charlie's angels type chicks on the cover, but then you play the game, and realize it is an anime shooter in every aspect. might I add, one of the best games I have on PS2, and it was $5.99.
-Silkworm for all of you lucky few that have owned or have an Amiga, SilkWorm was one of my favorite games to play. 2 player cooperative, one slick helicopter and a ranger type Jeep looking car on land. very very fun. I don't even remember who developed that game.

@digi: The Squaresoft shooter was called Einhander and as far as vertically scrolling games, I'm sure you'd be able to hold the PSP sideways a'la Raiden for Lynx (I think there already is a vertical scrolling shooter in the works for PSP that does just that). It sounds weird but works QUITE well.

Raiden Fighters, Fighters 2 and Fighters Jet would be sick too and maybe DoDonPachi. THE best would be a new Thunder Force title. Oh, Thunder Force VI, how I dream of thee... *sigh*

Releasing a grip opf shooters on PSP would make my PSP worth it, right now i'm sort of pissed at the 4 to 1 ratio of sports titles and crap for PSP.

I want some new games. And I know they're coming, I just thought that it'd be a better strategy to release some awesome games at launch instead of games that are, through observation, games that sony publishers just "had around and ready".

But yeah, each UMD =
- gradius 1 - 5 = 29.99
- R-Type final and rytpe 1 = 29.99

you get the picture.. that would be so great.

I would love to see some shooters like that make their way over here for the PSP. Raiden II was awesome in the arcade.. never been able to snag a console copy of it, but PSP would be even better. Gradius series and R-Type would be amazing as well. Fingers crossed.

even though IREM said they won't be making an R-TYPE after "final"... but... one can wish

^^^I agree. Irem wouldn't be going back on their words if they made an updated remake of classic R-Types (like LEO) for PSP, now would they?

hmm... or they could sell the rights to the game to SCEA or SCEJ or SCEE ... like wipeout was...
