The PSP is going to drive the cost of Memory Stocks right down. Prior to PSP there has been no single product to drive the use of Memory Stick. Memory sticks have only been available in Sony products and these are products which have numerous competitors with numerous alternatives to storage (phones, cameras, pdas etc). Although Sony do well in these markets they have in no way ruled them which has forced them to keep prices higher in order to recouperate R&D costs whilst maintaining profit. If PSP attains half the popularity of the PS2 the amount of potential Memory Stick customers is about to explode. In short every man, woman and child with a PSP is going to want to upgrade their Memory Stick (What can you do with 32Mb apart from store save games. Sony know this they're not dumb.) which will allow Sony to drop their costs whilst maintaining target profits. It's simply a matter of time.

The problem with putting a 2gb drive built in would NOT be the battery or the space. A 2gb flash drive does not take up much battery at all, and it takes very little space. the problem would be the cost. With the 2gb flash drive, you should expect the PSP to be at least 350 dollars, and this is unacceptable for many a consumer.edited: Jun 02 2005

I recently got 3 1G Sandisk Pro Duo w/ Magicgate for $300 which included free 2-day FedEx delivery. Zipzoomfly.com had this sale. Currently they are sold out and jacked the price back up to $139 each. So for cheaper then what Sony sells their 2G stick for I got another "G" for free.

Where can I buy a 1GB Mem Stick Pro Duo the cheapest? I'm in Ireland so I've found if I buy from Japan I get screwed on import tax. Where's the cheapest place to buy 'em?

I would just love to have a few of these...
But of course, everyone would love to have these at a more reasonable price.
Having two 1 gig is nice. Just the fact in switching memory sticks is taking up way too much time.
Time is precious.

I got my 1gb from Best Buy and a friend of mine worked there...gotta it for a nice price.
You can try Amazon.com. I think the 1gb is cheaper now without hook up....like $99.
I plan to buy a few more in about a month.

20gb is total BS! they barely have 2gb out the door and they have worked on 4gb. I dont know a company to EVER make a jump like that and can you imagine the price. No other flash media commercially to the general public i beliebe has passed 8gb
