Eidos announces Free Running, the world's first ever video game based on the urban phenomenon of parkour. Parkour, the art of movement, is less a sport and more a way of life. Its participants, known as Free Runners or Traceurs, view the environment and its obstacles, urban or natural, as a series of challenges to be overcome. To the Traceurs, parkour has a philosophical appeal: they feel transformed by the experience, free from the grind of city life. Since its inception in Paris during the mid-1980s, it has spread across the globe and now has an international army of exponents and enthusiasts.
In Free Running, the concrete jungle becomes your urban playground as you run, vault, jump or climb over obstacles in the most fluid and flowing manner possible. Test the boundaries of human ability as you perform death-defying leaps and jaw-dropping trips across inner-city rooftops. To be crowned King of Parkour, you must master over 50 moves, tricks and stunts including 'Kong Vaults', 'Pharaoh Climbs', 'Rail Split Vaults' and 'Vertical Wall Runs' in a variety of game modes while racing against human or computer-controlled competitors.
Free Running has been developed in association with Sebastien Foucan, one of the French founders of the movement, and the UK's foremost Parkour collection, Urban Freeflow. To aid your progress, Sébastien appears in the game as your mentor, teaching you new moves and tricks. Members of Urban Freeflow also make an appearance as unlockable playable characters.

That footage was nuts. I think that this might make a really neat game, if done correctly.

My friend is a "free runner". I try but ultimately fail, but i have fun doing it. Having it on PSP means that my butt will be safe from concrete unlike real life. If this game has a good camera and uses the analog stick well, it just might have my 40 or so dollars...

So this game sounds crazy and stupid = insane success.
50 moves woot and tat moive rocks. I think this game would Be 10x teh fun if there was a pursuit mode (the man chasing you) and you have to get to a certain point (delivering the goods). Just an idea. But i'll wait till it comes out and is reiviewed by others.

I was watching a program about free runners and at the end they showed a bit about the development for a game. I was wondering where it had gone off to and now I know; it's a PSP game. looks interesting.
+
i will not say this game looks kick ass, nor will i say it is awful. i believe it has potential, but theres one thing keeping me from a verdict...
THE FACT THAT ITS NOT EVEN OUT YET!
come on, don't bash a game you havent even seen real (meaning gameplay) footage of. the fact is, this game could or could not turn out well, but its not far enough along in development to give such objective criticism/praise -- and if all thats going to come out of your twelve year old mouth is "tHiS gAmE iS sOoO gAy," then dont bother posting at all. nobody wants to listen to derrogatory bashings of sexual preferences within a bash of a game you havent even played yet.

I know it isn't worth the keystrokes... but as someone who spent 20 years street skateboarding I am compelled to say that this extreme running is cool and all for those who push themselves to become proficient. Putting your body in such obvious danger is exciting. Otherwise, I'm thinkin' that these guys should take it to the next level and do that stuff on a skateboard. Huge drops, gaps, improvize with the terrain, etc. has been the bread and butter of core street skaters for decades. I'll read the review of this game but I'm thinking THUG2 would provide more PSP gaming pleasure... flame on...

This is a game made for huge fat people to play in their couch at home...they might get a kick out of it, since it might seem"extreme" to them.
+
Okay, Apoklepz -- next time you leap 20 feet between two rooftops you come and call me. Guys, you can say you're interested in it, or you think it'll flop, but stop with the "how gay," "this looks like crap," "this is for fat people to play on their couch at home"-- I hope you realize generally a couch (or chair, bed) is where you sit when you play a game, and the same thing about the game being for fat people could be said about ANY sports game. Somehow I doubt there are many sports fans here, though.

Are they THIS desperate for new game ideas? This is pathetic. Why not take a more popular genre and just make it better? Hey, Eidos, Lara Croft destroy your collective brains?
Here's some more ideas for you if you are running low:
Urban Fire Hydrant Water Dancing
MVP Stickball 2006
"You no buy! You buy, or Go!" This is a sim game, in which you attempt to stay as long as you can in a Korean corner market browsing without actually buying anything. The difficulty level is tripled if you create a black character.
+
Sounds interesting, I'll probably borrow this from someone who has it or wait and buy it off eBay for half the retail price.
+
I saw a comercial like that for adidas shoes I think. They were jumping off of stuff and doing everything on that parkour does. And it didn't say free runners for psp. O well. I am getting this game. It looks really cool.
+
Should be worth a rental if nothing else. I personally like seeing new ideas thrown around like this. I give mad props to these folks for breaking away from the temptation to add to the endless supply of racing or mainstream sports games.
+
I jumped of a roof copying this sport, i am typing this with my ear as a result, I'm suing!!
+
looks like they want to make a messed up tony hawk game
