GripShift is one of the first video games for the PSP system to combine high-flying stunt driving and unique puzzle-solving action in an all-out, pedal-to-the-metal racing experience. Players will race as one of six unique characters in supped-up, customizable vehicles as they stunt their way through insane twisting levels while collecting power-ups, avoiding traps, beating the clock and challenging friends. Featuring more than 100 levels of puzzle-like challenges in fun, vibrant environments, and additional bonus games, players can race solo or with up to three other players via the PSP system’s built-in wireless feature.

I doubt this game will come out by august----I think that's just a default release date---I guess we will wait until E3 and see if they have a date for this game there

why do you doubt august? this game has been in development since 2003, and looks almost finished to me

One little thing about those who mention games as "kiddy". Most of the time there the ones who are just old enough to be able to say that, but not old enough to know not to. 
It looks fun, and basically that's what I'm looking for. Super Monkey Ball was silly (and FUN), bomberman is silly (and FUN), mario kart is silly (and VERY FUN). Those were all influences for this game.
BTW, if you're at E3 and you can get into the SOE booth, you'll probably be able to see it.

Stunt Car Racer is one of the games mentioned as inspiring the title in the IGN.com interview.

I've only played super monkey ball 2, the presentation is so goofy and, dare I say "kiddy", that you'd think it was a game for little kids, and although it can be fun for young kids, it can also be extremely fun and challenging for all ages, and I don't think there's too many little kids that could beat this game.

This looks like a game called "Stunt GP" that was axed on the Dreamcast and the PC (though the demo came out). I found a copy in Russia and it was alot of fun!
