The point is. if you have a 1 GB memory card and you have 20 1GB movies or whatever, and you want to transfer them away from a computer, this is your answer..
if you have a 256 or 128Mb card, there really is no point unless you REALLY need those extra 30-100 songs with you at all times... otherwise..
this + 1gb card + air travel + train + school (would be great for educational purposes as well) + etc etc etc.. I think this is a very good idea.. it's small, lightweight.
I ordered the cd211 from iocombo.com The 211 does not come with a harddrive, its just the enclosure. I have a few harddrives lying around so I didnt want to pay the extra $90 to get another drive. iocombo.com has them in stock and will ship same day if you call them to place the order. According to the tracking number, it should arrive tomorrow. Ill post a review when I get it.
Hey, Chase, perhaps you chould carry your textbooks, homework, iBook or whatever, instead and get some school work done; get a career, and play with your games later in life.
I'll try to answer the open questions. 1) The CD311 houses the hard drive and rechargeable battery, so it does not drain power from the PSP. 2) The PSP does not mount the hard drive. The CD311 mounts the PSP's memory stick. Copy files to the memory stick, then disconnect. So -> 3) You need one, and ONLY ONE, large memory stick (512 or 1 GB) to store high quality videos.

Difference between 211 and 311:
The difference is that CD311:
1.Bundle 40GB HDD and 14 in 1 reader.
2.Added file encryption function.
3.Added Battery charge LED.
By the way, CD311/211 can't support Sony PSP.

well.. the thing is that i don't trust his source, since his source said that it doesn't work with psp. i called apacer and the guy said that it works with psp. he also told me that ppl are starting to ask about extra battery pack for it.
i just want to know why you cant stream from it like a memory card? is it impossible to do or something or is that gonna be the next version? i really like the idea of it and even though you cant stream from it its still pretty handy on trips and such, but if it was able to stream i think it would go to my must buy list along with a 1GB.
this is still tight if you have a 256 just compress the format to 216kbs on video 9 and you can fit a gig of info on the stick. Right I GITS first movie and about 4 epiodes of ATHF. You could load a bunch of movies on the HD after you converter the VOB files.
