PSP version of the well-known Wipeout franchise. Hi-tech weapons, high speeds, and more of that dance music soundtrack you all love. The game will feature downloadable content after release, allowing you to access new ships, circuits, skins and even music. You can also battle it out with 8 other players via WiFi.
This game is the big reason why I want a PSP. I have been a big Wipeout fan since the original on the playstation. In the big box. The graphics look amazing and the speed and weapons promise loads of fun. Wipeout has always been a great alternative to car based racers, and Wipeout Pure looks to keep the franchise going strong for years to come. I can't wait.
i also pre- ordered this game it looks freakin amazing, the graphics i have seen on sites like gamespot all point to this game being almost ps2 quality, especially on the psp's screen
I just preordered it the other day. I already had psp reserved, but when i called the guy to see where i was on the list he told me that i should probably reserve a game because they might go fast.
hard to compare 2 completely different games and game styles, but technically, graphically, sonically Wipeout is the better of the 2, gameplay is a personal choice thing, do you wanna be skateboarding or racing hovercraft while blowing others up?
edit: oooh, just this very second received a mail, my copy of Wipeout Pure has shipped
Beautiful game. Loads of varied and incredibly wild tracks. Controls take a bit of getting used to (I haven't played Wipeout since the first one), but overall I'm into it. Can't say enough about the visuals - it rivals Ridge Racers.
first off, its a BEAUT of a game.
but since i am a klutz with racing games, i can't drive worth $#!+.
anybody have any advice for steering? or just plain handling the ship? i seem to slam onto the walls a LOT.
i use it as a browser, tho. VERY nice. useful when i'm away from my pc.
psp411's guide was VERY VERY helpful. and EASY to follow.
^ Hey, use the air brakes (L & R buttons) it makes racing a hell of a lot easier. Also, learn to take corners a little early, it helps in the long run-- but dont turn into them TOO early, one slip can mess up an entire race.
...I'm currently on Rapier level, man...talk about hard.
