I know it must look like Ia m supporting this product - I am NOT supporting it - All I ask is that when someone comes out with something new dont trash it right away. I think your opinions/comments/criticism will have more weight if you actually own the product. I think this is a very reasonable request made in a civil manner...
I am personally holding out for the Logitech case. It looks good, has good functionality and I think Logitech can make this work well...
Until then -the only accessory I have for my PSP is a screen protector and a Pelican battery pack

I very much agree, I think what you say is right. If companies don't make mistakes they can't know what works well.

Fundamentally, I agree as well. I approve of innovation. I am, however, against helping the company find out if it means wasting my own money. There is a way of them finding out if it's a good idea prior to offering it for sale, focus groups, voice of the customer research, ethnography, etc. If Brando did all this and was super confident they had a winner, then I am probably a fool for being critical on site alone. But for a $12 product, I doubt they did any really in-depth research, but hey, I could be wrong.
I'm not saying this product is a waste, but everything I've seen that's similar was a piece of crap. One thing I noticed from gameboy ownership is companies pump out a ton of low priced accessories that are crap, you buy them because they were cheap, but you end up throwing them away because they don't work as promised, and the company doesn't care about customer dissatisfaction because they sell a ton because they're cheap. A very vicious circle.
Again, I'm not saying this about the above product, just relating past experiences to what I see. We obviously know jack shi@ about this Brando piece because nobody's experienced it. But it is perfectly appropriate for me to say I'm not that hopeful for this thing based on the main concept.

GT - good points. thanks!

Whaddaya know - civil discourse on a public forum! Just looked outside and the sky's not falling.

Why is that unusual? As a member of link and link I dont find it unusual at all. ESpecially on HeadFi - people loan their gear out, exchange...a lot of trust based transactions.
Anyway...I am glad we could have this discussion without behaving like kids. I am 25 years old and it behooves me to track with the conduct expectations of my vintage

It looks 50/50. It looks as if it might affect the controls and playability.

Hey do any of you guys know if sony is going to be taking out replacement faceplates for the psp?

I'm happy with mine; it works well in conjunction with my Pelican Skin Grip. I was originally using the Naki version of the product (referred to as the "Crystal Cover II" but the additional height of the cover and the Skin Grip made it harder to quickly press the four main action buttons. Now, using it with the Brano Crystal Hard Cover, I have better access to the buttons and the D-pad. The raised D-pad and buttons give the PSP a more natural feeling when you're operating it and my hands were far less tired after playing THUG 2 Remix for a few hours.

 Own it
PSP World reviewed this product and gave it a D+ link
Pretty good review. Of particular note, they said the cover is too small and the analog nub can't move laterally with this thing on, thus it is rendered useless. They basically say it's just a collector's item, not really practical.
Dormido - can you comment on this review seeing as you're the only one around here who seems to own one of these?edited: Jun 03 2005

I've got one of these, and you know what; it's good for protecting the screen and buttons if you let one of your friends/family members etc. play on it.
I'm very careful with my PSP and i already applied a good screen protector (Martin Fields), but i put the crystal hard cover over it to make shure people don't scratch the surface.
As for the rest of the PSP World review; the d-pad hasn't fallen off so far, so the only bad thing about it is not being able to use the analog nub.

 Own it
my friend had one for his gba. utter s hit

sorry for the late comeback, but i've never had any problems with mine; the nub had full movement... in any event, i stopped using mine because i broke the stick that goes over the the d-pad. it wasn't the fault of poor quality; i actually took it apart and broke it on accident.

 Own it
