Two years have passed since the events of Final Fantasy VII. Though Midgar-city of mako, city of prosperity has been reduced to ruins, its people slowly but steadily walk the road to reconstruction.
However, a mysterious illness called geostigma torments them.
With no cure in sight, it brings death to the afflicted, one after another, robbing the people of their fledgling hope.
And so Cloud, who walked away from the life of a hero to live in solitude, must step forward yet again.

The nfil is set for Japanese release on September the 14th, delays are due to the development of new FF titles, Including FFXII, FFVII: Crisis Core (Cell-Phone, Jap only), Kindgom Hearts II, and FFVII: Dirge of Cerebus. US release date has yet to be annouced or confirmed.

september 14... will be the best day ever... square is finally releasing a final fantasy i am excited about... final fantasys 10-2 and 11 didn't really impress me but final fantasy VII is the best game ever and is getting its well deserved sequel

look u all must understand the fist ff movie that was made was a complete failer because it had nothing to do with the gameing series, but now that their is going to be a movie on the series we will fell connected and i promis ny ff fan will fined some source of saticfaction, but ennogh of these big liturate words they probally mean nothing at this point,but bassically it will be great and be understandable and bring a great series into a new aera the ff movie-game aera

Nirad that is no rumor. Square-enix have created a demo for the beginning of VII for PS3 while they just used this for a show of the power of PS3 they have said they have no intension of recreating VII but they are highly contemplating the idea. I really think though it all comes down to us. If we can show em around the world how baldy we want it, I think they should create it. Coz remember they dont make the games for the experience they do it for money.

OK. If you go to ps3portal.com you'll see that they are quite demandingly hinting on a remake of ff7 on the ps3. not only that there is already a preview of it. (which is the original intro redone to ps3 graphics) Secondly, if you do your research they have been dubbing this movie to english and it is planned to be released the SAME TIME as japan. So yea... if you aren't a ff fan then you might still like this movie but will be lost on a lot of parts. like who sephiroth is and why they're trying to bring him back...
