A secret from our nation's past will lead to the greatest adventure in history. All his life, Gates has been searching for a treasure no one believed existed: amassed through the ages, moved across continents, to become the greatest treasure the world has ever known. Hidden by our Founding Fathers, they left clues to the Treasure's location right before our eyes ... from our nation's birthplace, to the nation's capitol, to clues buried within the symbols on the dollar bill. Gates' life-long journey leads him to the last place anyone thought to look: a map hidden on the back of the Declaration of Independence. But what he thought was the final clue is only the beginning. Gates realizes in order to protect the world's greatest treasure, he must now do the unthinkable: steal the most revered, best guarded document in American history before it falls into the wrong hands. In a race against time, Gates must elude the authorities, stay one step ahead of his ruthless adversary (Sean Bean), decipher the remaining clues and unlock the 2000 year-old mystery behind our greatest national treasure.

it seems kind of funny that they are releasing so many UMD movies for the PSP. dont get me wrong, its great that you can watch high quality movies on your PSP, but i just figured people would just get the 1GB to save them on and play them from. it just doesnt seem practical because you can only watch them on the PSP, where as if you bought a dvd and burned it, then put that on your 1GB to watch without using all that precious UMD spin energy, and being able to erase and put new movies on at your pleasure all while being able to watch the dvd you bought anywhere and on tvs. its funny because thats contradictory in that you will have to spend around 200-250 dollars buying all the things you need to do all that with the GB. i dont know, i dont even have a 1GB but the guy at the store said his was cool with lots of anime on his
$14.50/movie =only watch on PSP
200-250$=movies forever muhahah

psp movies on your pro duo will never look as good as they will on the UMD. help support sony's risky idea! buy some umd movies! they're fairly cheap!

Will the UMD movies be sold in the movie aisle of stores, or the PSP/gaming aisle??
AND... Some people might not really understand how to transfer movies onto the memory stick, so they will go ahead and buy UMDs.
Also... for people who don't know the specific legal matter with this, they might think that copying your own movie and putting it on a UMD(your UMD) is illegal...but... some of us know that it isn't illegal as long as the person only burns movies that he owns and doesn't sell the copies. !!

you can't write to UMD

Additionally a 512Mb stick is usfficient for films in decent quality.

i think the UMD idea is cool to showcase the power it offers, however it will flop ....You cant deny the incredibly clean look of the video, compared to compressed pr duo video, but, ill be damned if ie ver spend 15 dollars on a movie that only plays on a psp.....now make em for 5 bucks....and ill buy em all.....since this is a novelty more then someones primary means of viewing a movie, i suggest they consider packing them in with DVDs for an extra 5 bucks or something.....otherwise, i wont own another UMD movie other then spiderman 2

And even if they release a home UMB movie player, i think that would only cement a profit loss for Sony. With HD-DVD / Blu Ray combos coming out just around the corner, releasing a low res movie player would be a poor choice, even if it was cheap. The only purpose it could fill would be to sell as a movie player that is durable and more friendly to kids (since the discs are in a plastic case, kids could handle em with less likelihood of scratches). Then they could probably see a small market share open up for the players. But as a techie, there is no need to buy a UMD player unless i could burn my own UMD movies cheaply (perhaps sell the files online for 4 bucks, let us download it and burn our own??? Save on production costs, all they need to do then is to down res the movies to fit sexily on the psp) Thats the only way it will take off....SONY I hope you are reading this.....and if you like my idea ....send me a check... Would you naysayers reconsider if somebody comes out with a video-out adaptor some day? Allowing you to watch these UMD's on your tv, LCD, etc? The video might not look as great, but if some company devises such an accessory, I reckon it would really improve the practicality of a UMD movie. And even if not, there's just the cuteness of the whole thing, the movies are so small. You have to admit it feels geeky-nice to have your PSP game/movie boxes all lined up on your shelf. People like to build collections, it may not be practical, but it's fun.

captain, read my comment right above yours.....why would us techies want to buy ANOTHER low res player, when we have our HDTV's waiting eagerly for the HD discs coming out. again, take the route bandai did, pack in the UMD movies with the DVD version, keep it cheap, (4-6$ increase), then people wont bitch about price, and also give the option to go sans UMD for those who want to.....then you can do all sorts of neat things, ((give umds to your friend if you dont need it, own both and not have to choose one or the other....solve world hunger....)) anyway...just a simple guys thoughts..... as an everyman

I think that's a great idea packaging them in with DVDs for a small price incrase. I hope sony is listening because I would definitely buy those.

They have menus similar to DVD menus, but almost every post about movie UMD's (if you bother to read them) has someone complaining they lack the extras that a fully featured DVD would have, like commentary, trailers, etc. Most do have chapter advance (via right trigger button), but not sure which if any have chapter selection.

I think haveing the UMD is alot better then haveing it on your 1gig (and alot less work) and that mean your 1 gig can have the movies you cant buy in UMDs i think ill buy alot more movies now and long as they work for the next 3 years im happy

I was really reluctant to buy this UMD because the movie seemed kind of cheesy. Well, at the time because there were so few UMDs out, I finally broke down and bought it. I have to admit, I enjoyed the movie. Yes, there are some, "what are you talking about?" kind of moments in the movie, but overall very enjoyable.
