Based on true events, OPEN WATER follows an American couple, Daniel and Susan, (Daniel Travis and Blanchard Ryan) on an island holiday. Upon arrival at their hotel, we learn that Daniel and Susan's relationship is under strain from their workaholic lifestyles, and they need a vacation even more than they realized. The next morning, the loving and rested couple, certified scuba divers, board a local dive boat for an underwater tour of the reef. The boat is crowded with other vacationers, and due to a series of innocent miscommunications and a distracted crew, the couple is, after only 40 minutes or so underwater, accidentally left behind. What follows is the story of their ordeal: cold, alone and miles from land, the couple is adrift in shark-infested waters. While shining a light on how we often take our comfortable lives and our relationships for granted, OPEN WATER reminds us of the fragility and vulnerability of modern man in relation to the vast and indiscriminant power of nature.

...It's also a terrible flick, I might add. This will collect dust in store bins, and will eventually become foosil fuel or petroleum for my grandchildren's car...Just then it might be appreciated.

As many will agree with me, this movie is the worst movie EVER to hit theaters. Why in the world put it on UMD. If you can breath you will probably not enjoy this film. The people that do enjoy this movie will probably own a lint collection as well. I actually broke stuff after watching this movie because I was soooo pissed. You would actually enjoy watching a 2 hour home video of sea monkeys swimming more then this movie. The only reason why you should watch this movie is if you have a sleeping disorder and do not want to take medication for it. I would not suggest driving or operating heavy machinery after watching this movie. Also you will find yourself staring at the blank picture at the end of the movie trying to figure out why you rented it and if you can still tie your shoe's after you wipe the drool off your face first.

whats so bad about it? i havent seen it but it got some good reviews by papers and stuff.....

"Based on true events" how the hell do they know that, these chumps were never found alive so the movie makers have no idea what they did in the water. THE WORST FILM EVER MADE and it's not even a full feature film at just an hour long.

i loved this movie. the sense of dread as the sharlks circled was incredible. i would agree that it moves a little slow at times. i guess this is a great example of why so many movies are made, as peoples opinions are so varied.

 Own it
I didn't see the point of this movie. I wondered how you could make a plot like that last as long as the movie did.
