Beautiful looking action-RPG based on the classic Y's series. This one finds Adol on a strange new island. From the screenshots the game looks very vivid and animated. This game was originally released on the PS2 in Japan. An English translation is due out in 2005.

i agree with you completely Looking at the screens makes me want it even more.
From what i read its coming on ps2 and psp im not sure which one to get it for....
The Official Playstation Mag's March issue comes with a demo for this game. I understand the PS2 does not equal PSP, but they are the same game and I assume the gameplay / graphic swill be mostly similar. My impressions are positive so far. It's a nice classic hack-n-slash action-RPG. Those of you old timers who've played Y's in the past know what it's all about. Classic gaming, nice and simple.
I played and beat the PS2 version of this and liked it a lot. All the PSP screens I've seen on this version lead me to believe it'll be an exact port. If you can't wait for this one, I recommend picking up the PS2 game. The biggest knocks on the game seem to be that it's kinda short (12-15 hours) and not very deep, but I found the length just right (I actually don't like really long games), and the old school hack n' slash gameplay a real nostalgic treat. Oh yeah, some people hate the voice acting, but it seems like every game gets that complaint, the voices were ok to me and seemed appropriate to a Japanese action rpg.
Unfortunately for me, the PSP one looks like the exact same game, so I won't be picking it up myself. I wish they'd port over one of the other Ys, though, maybe if this one sells well...
The voice acting was absolutely the most horrifying I've ever heard in my life. I have never said or believed that about anything else. This truly completely and without a doubt was the all-time worst voice acting ever on in any media that features voice acting. King of the category of so-bad-will-make-you-embarrased-you're-anywhere-near-it voice acting.
Luckily, when you start the game, there's a secret code in the "Cheat" chamber where you can turn on original Japanese dialog with subs, and original 2D cinemas. If you plan to play this on your PS2, go find the cheat and never look back. This voice acting might actually KILL YOU.
