Wow... 8!
That would be : red buildings, green buildings, red AND green buildings, blue shots, yellow shots, fast mode, slow mode and "reverse mode" where teh enemies start moving right rather than left.
Seriously if this game costs more then 2p then they can forget it.

They also just announced a new game by the Space Invaders CREATOR for the DS, some all new game based on the same idea with new gameplay.
...And the PSP gets this? I don't think so.

They should at least rotate teh screen and display the data over the game rather than only using the tiny amount of screen space they are atm

and who says they wont do that, just because the screenshots dont show it doesnt mean they wont have various screen modes. Classic gaming like this is HUGE in japan, and well, theres nostalgia freaks all over the world, why complain they are releasing it just becuase YOU wont buy it? no on is forcing you to

I think this particular version will be a waste of money and I can't see paying more than $10 on this. Why don't they put out the Atari Anthology or Midway Classic Hits? That's over 85 games or so. They other 7 versions of Space Invaders could probably be added on to that disc. It seems like a waste. Not enough "bang for your buck" as some people put it.

This game should be a FREE download from a hotspot. We should be able to save it to our memory card. I would not even pay more than 2 bucks for this game. I did not buy a PSP for Space Invaders. Sure the game is a classic but what is the replay value of this game? FREE Download Sony.

Midnight, yeah, it is MY opinion, which is just as valid as everybody elses Lets see if this game enters the top10, and if it does how long its there for. I do agree there are loads of retro fans, but they want quality, as Alex says, get a whole load of retro games, not just 8 versions of the same one.
Before you point this out again, I know this is opinion but as I've said, it's just as valid as anyone elses.

I'm with VgSlag on this one - Space Invaders is a lame game. I got it on a key ring a while ago and it held my attention for about 2 minutes. Retro gaming does seem to be popular with nostalga freaks but they tend to bundle a whole stack of the old games into one offering - like that joy stick that has all the Atari stuff on it. A UMD of Space Invaders only would be silly.

Space Invaders? Why? I wonder if there's really that many people hooked to this game. I prefer Galaga and Galaxian, but Galaga is the best of the three. Different company though so it makes sense that Taito will try to put this product out on yet another system. The game is, in a word, boring. Especially after playing a lot of Galaga, i can never get tired of that game. Namco probably will release a port of Galaga to PSP eventually if not soon. I remember when this game came out on SNES and GBC, and there's probably a port on GBA but I gave up long ago. The game sucks!! Waste of plastic.
