Also, I've read that the internal batteries in the power brick are rechargable AAA batteries. Does that mean they are Nickel Cadmium or other format and subject to the "battery memory" problem?

It's either NiCd or NiMH. If it is NiCd, it's going to be suck because it will have the memory effect and you'll have to fully discharge it once in a while to make keep the battery's rechargability.

So how big is this thing? From the picture it looks a bit taller than the PSP... Can someone give me some diminsions please?

I bought one, and I really like it. I didn't notice that it got overly hot to the point of concern. May be Danner has a defective one? All I know is, mine seems to work great.

I've used mine several times and while it gets hot while charging, mine doesn't get so hot that it I can't pick it up nor cause burn on the counter top that I use to charge it. I'm not sure why some people's bricks are getting so hot... may they are defective. If I were you? I would return yours. I've had no problems with mine. As for the dimensions, it is quite thin and about a 1/3 the size of the PSP... it's not big at all.

DANGER! stay away from this thing go to PSPHACKER.COM theres alot of compliants going on about exploding pwer bricks, one ven killed a guys PSP!
+
This is old news, but yeah. After being in a case and running for several hours the brick exploded and obliterated the case and PSP. This was not the fault of the product itself.

I saw the pictures of the user who posted his power brick "explosion" and the damage to his table (or floor). I don't doubt that it happened to him or that a handful of other people have experienced some problems with the brick; I guess my question are a)is it a wide spread problem and b)if it is a wide spread problem, how come more people are not reporting problems?
Finally, Godlike, I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you said, "This was not the fault of the product itself." Could you explain that? Are you saying the user made te brick over heat by using it in the case? Thanks.

I dont believe this, this is like a one time thing, sux2b that dood, if his story is not made up but i would not swear a vindictive hate just because one dood had his PSP destroyed. P.S. im doing the first charge now and just to be safe i stop the charge every hour and cool it down with my ACedited: May 26 2005

this is not just one dude, I'm sure there are more, and they are just not reporting it to the forms you guys are watching or, just not reporting it to forms. don't assume that this is just one voice. I have not sent mine back yet but I will very soon as soon as pelican agrees to pay for the damage to my carpet.
I had a game boy a few years back that exploded. it was my fault though. I mixed batteries. pelican should have known that this could have been a hazard in testing and made a warning. even if it was just the heat issue. there still should have been a warning. I say class action lawsuit.

What I meant was, during the time it exploded it was being used for 3 hours WHILE it was in a cloth case, smothering it in it's own heat. This also goes for the PSP itself. Play it too long in a Playgear case and it will start to heat up. I've heard of complaints that it got hot on counters are such. Well kitchen counters are made to absorb heat anyway...And...why would you put the battery on your carpet? Anyway, it is possiable the product is defective and I'm surprised no one has busted one open and looked at the insides...edited: Jun 01 2005
