costs about $20edited: Apr 03 2005

It has been out for a while now

It's actually already out. I bought mine at BestBuy the day of launch. I'm happy with it. It works as promised. The only quirk with it seems to be that you can't chain them all together at once. Basically the power brick uses the AC adapter that comes with your psp to charge it. So on mine if do AC Adapter -> Power Brick -> PSP then the Power Brick gets hot. If I only charge the Power Brick and then plug it into the psp without the AC adapter connected then it stays cool like it should. Yes, you can play while it charges your psp.
+
How long does it hold charge without being used?
+
Sounds good! And way cheaper than buying another PSP battery. It needs improvement in the looks department though :P
+
I bought it online and i posted it here and it seems to work good though you cant really tell when it is fully charged, but that may be my fault because i did the chain recharging.

 Own it
bulky, pain to carry around, no indicator lights. get the charger case or theater experience instead. those also protect your psp while charging.

Power Brick Instructions
Step 1:
Charge the Power Brick using your PSP’s
AC/DC charger. The LED light on the Power
Brick will flash while charging. Power Brick is
completely charged when LED stops blinking. A
complete charge should take approximately
four hours.
Step 2:
Use the supplied connection cable to plug the
Power Brick into your PSP’s “DC In” port. See
you PSP’s manual if you are unclear on how to
do this. You can play the PSP while charging
with the Power Brick, though complete charge
time will be longer. You may also charge your
Power Brick while you charge your PSP. Plug
the AC adapter supplied with your PSP into the
Power Brick, and then connect the PSP to the
Power Brick with the supplied cable as
described above.

How long is the cable that comes with the power brick? Like can I put the brick in my pocket and keep my PSP powered while I play?
+
Probably as long as what is shown in the photo.

I got this thing and it works great i mean you can't beat it it is 20 bucks and will charge ur psp 2 times or 1.5 if you use it as an external power source plus the cord it comes with is long enough to put in youre pocket while playing.

I got this in a kit and use it in the car with the auto-adaptor. It does have an indicator light that blinks while charging and solid when charged. I use them daisy chained all of the time... auto adaptor - brick - psp.

Seems like the biggest complaint on this product so far is that it gets hot, but I'm unclear on when that happens. Does it get hot when the brick is plugged into the PSP or when the brick is being charged up itself or both? Danner says it gets hot when you chain them, but I've read on other sites that it gets how "when charging", hence my question. One poster said it gets so hot it scared them and made them afraid it was going to explode, that's pretty hot. Some say this is why Pelican has a guarantee that they'll replace your PSP if the brick damages it. So what's the truth?
