The latest installment of "Ridge Racer" features stunning 3D graphics, smooth analog steering and robust course selections comprised of new tracks and classic courses from the "Ridge Racer" series. For the most serious speed demons who have mastered all 39 standard tours within the game, the U.S. version features a new MAX Tour in World Tour Mode, with seven ferociously difficult tours to conquer. "Ridge Racer's" Wireless Battle permits players to battle it out head-to-head in eight-player races, while an all-new nitrous boosting system allows for faster racing than ever before.
I love this game, however the Physics need a little work.
I can understand that if you rearend a car, you lose momentum and the car you hit goes faster as a result (and visa versa). However, it does seem of that the same effect happens if you sideswipe a car drifting through a turn. You slide sidways into another car in a turn, and instead of that car being pushed off of the track in the direction of your inflicted hit, it magically shoots straight ahead of you as if it were just rear-ended. It is an annoyance.
Certainly a great launch title. I played the heck out of this for the first few weeks I had my PSP. I unlocked almost everything, then bought Wipeout and didn't have any desire to go back and finish everything completely. The 'final rounds' are really about absolute perfection, anyway; the fun kind of dwindles when that's all that's left in a game. Again, it's hard to say "I've been suckered" with this game; but Midnight Club proves how much more a racing game can be --and how much more variation in 'tracks' we should expect anymore (RR loves 'reversing' and 'mirroring' tracks and calling them 'new' tracks). Definitely for brief load times, fast action, and easy wireless linkup, Ridge Racer does excel. It's longevity is rather limited, though.
this is my 1st comment ridge racer is marvellous with an exceptional graphic and the brand new nitro system that adds a little of race strategy(i.e. use the nitro now or later?)the best arcade style racing title and maybe the best title on psp
Really fun until you get to the MAX tours and find you have nothing to do because when u try to beat the MAX tours u get owned and throw your PSP out the widow(lucky people who have the Japanese version don't have to buy a new PSP).
I'm stuck on third race in Opus 3.
