Valhalla Knights is a tactical RPG with more than a few customizable options. There are a variety of job classes and skills and a unique battle system called Gland Logic Battle system where you move on a 6x6 grid and dictate where your players go. VK is shaping up to be an epic game with over 48,000 weapons and 150 characters.
It looks ALOT better than Untold Legends. Skills, jobs, 48,000 weapons!?! 150 Charaters? Even from just the screenshots it looks better to me. Although, after some thought.. I really REALLY doubt the 48,000 weapons thing. If you tried every weapon out for only 5 mins each, it would take 4000 hours just to TRY them all. That's 16.6 days of trying a new weapon every 5 mins. Somehow, that seems like it could be an exagerration. It still looks like alot better game than Unsold Legbends.
i think you have 8 character classes, so you would divide the weapons up as such. not every character can use every weapon. but i think armor and accessories are included with the weapons. the fighter class can hold weapons in both hands, and there's a character class of robots which i can see as being able to use multiple weapons. so maybe, just maybe there are that many weapons, but who would want to use them all anyway? too bad i dont know japanese, because theyre the ones who got this. eventually europe and north america will get a taste, but i dont think before D&Dtactics. finally some decent RPGplay for the psp.
Woot, the game has now been scheduled for a release in North America as well! Date is set to Q1 2007.
List of features taken from PSPUpdates:
* Customizable characters – Players can select from five races (human, dwarf, halfling, elf, machine) and eight different job classes (Fighter, Mage, Priest, Thief, Knight, Samurai, Ninja, Anchor).
* Complete quests, recruit new party members and upgrade your equipment... standard RPG fare. We hear that there's a big selection of weapons, armors, as well as accessories, and they also become visible on the in-game models when equipped. And that's something not so standard, especially coming from a Japanese RPG.
* Real-time battles that allow the player to do a balance act controlling the six party members. Want to switch from your Mage to a Samurai in the middle of a battle? We hear you can do so in this game.
* 2-Player Co-op Mode - We're talking about 30 co-op missions exclusive to the multi-player mode.
played the japanese version and the game was pretty good. party management and somewhat random battles made for good play. there were definitely loads of weapons and armors. and on top of that your characters look changed with the different gear. best thing though was being able to choose primary, secondary, and even tertiary classes per character(like having a thief who can heal and cast magic). it seemed like it missing something though, but maybe... just maybe that was due to me not following the story since i can read japanese. i got pretty far in the game but stopped playing when news that the us release was coming out. i reached level 6 spell use and just couldnt figure out what spells did what, what they were selling in the store, the scrolls, etc.
miljonir, ive never played fftactics, but i thought this played a little like ffxii when it came to battles. you can set your characters up similar to gambits(like heal the party or a specific character when they get to a certain amount of hp). the character you control does what you want, the rest of the party attacks as you preprogram too(cast magic, ranged weapons, etc)
